    Nice variety of yummy drink recipes – most are super easy to make!
    I am always on the lookout for new drink recipes or ingredients that might offer me some additional health benefits. This is an entire book dedicated to that!The first thing I noticed was all of the colorful pictures. I love this! I typically bypass cookbooks and recipe books that don’t have useful pictures. Some have hand drawn illustrations but that just isn’t the same. I like to see what a product might (or should! lol) look like when it’s fully prepared. Flipping through a book and choosing something based on an enticing photo is common practice for me. :)This book is filled with 50 homemade drink recipes to combat a wide variety of issues – sleep problems, relaxation, gut health, brain health, immunity, anti-inflammatory, etc. You can glance through all of them in the table of contents and quickly flip to the one you want to focus on.Most of the recipes contain simple ingredients that I almost always have on hand. I didn’t find any that had weird or super gourmet ingredients that leave you asking yourself, “What on earth IS that?!”I am sure it’s self-explanatory but you will need your own blender and/or juicer to make some of these.Our favorite so far was the Mixed Berry Brain Booster. YUM! Strawberries, blueberries, orange juice, and plain Greek yogurt. It’s fruity, creamy, and just so delicious! Even the kids enjoyed it!Since these are health “shots”, you can make a large batch, drink what you want, and then pour the rest into ice cube trays to consume at a later date. Super practical!

    Clear and simple tonics that work
    As part of my plan to eat more healthy, I have been juicing for awhile, but honestly I just blend together whatever in my fridge or pantry not knowing if they work well together or not. Not only does the book cover basic nutrition and food safety, it clarifies which key ingredient would be best to address which concern. It also includes substitutions so I can always find everything needed to make the tonic I want. I particular like the tip on what to do with leftover ingredients to minimize food waste. I’m glad this book comes in hardcover with such colorful cover as I use it almost everyday and keep it pretty much on my counter all the time now.

    This is such a wealth of knowledge to have in our home! We are a pretty scrunchy family – not all the way crunchy but we do have some holistic ideals, and one of them is that food can heal us. This definitely backs that up. I love how many different concoctions there are for different things! This would make a great gift!

    This book is so pretty! Not only do many of these taste amazing, the book has a really simple clean look. The photography is really on point. I like that they have included so many types of health shots, like calming, gut, brain health and the more common inflammatory and immunity.I received a review copy from Workman Publishing. All opinions are completely mine.

    Beautiful book!
    This Health Shots book is absolutely beautiful! I’ve been a long-time health nut, vegan and now Holistic Nutritionist and I can tell you the recipes in this book are fantastic. Many of the recipes are accompanied by colorful photos that make you want to reach in the book and grab a cup of deliciousness. The spiced pear booster is my favorite drink so far. It’s warm, sweet, but spicy and is perfect for a cool winter’s day. While many of the recipes call for vegetarian ingredients like Greek yogurt and whole milk, they are very easy to substitute for vegan ingredients. I also like that the recipes list not only American measuring standards, but metric as well. Overall, I’m very pleased with this book and can’t wait to try more amazing recipes.

    Great little recipes!
    When I first ordered this I was nervous I wouldn’t be able to use it much due to not having a juicer. But thankfully, this book does a great job of offering a range of tonic types – juiced, blended, steeped and strained. The recipes look and sound really interesting and I love the different sections for different types of health concerns. Beware though – you will need to buy quite specialized ingredients for a lot of these. It’s not like, milk, strawberries, and honey type recipes. However if you are ok with buying the specific ingredients needed for the specific type of drink you want to make, this is a super handy health drink book and I will enjoy making recipes from it!
