Friendly Cookbook for Dogs Written with Care
The cookbook is very thorough with about 1/3 of it explaining nutrition, meal planning and budgeting/costs. This was very helpful as it addressed some of the concerns I had with transitioning to homemade dog food (seems too time consuming and expensive). The recipes are good and seem pretty easy to make as they have every day foods and not too many ingredients. There is lots of variety from recipes for meals, treats and even birthday cakes, and adding ones for overweight, active and dogs with dysplasia. Recommend for anyone considering switching to homemade dog food!

It’s Like My Dog Knew What The Book Was About
I love my dogs, of course that should go without saying. My husband and I have been feeding our dogs homemade food for a few years now and the difference from dry kibbe (even the “good” stuff) is night and day. But when I read this book, I felt so guilty. My poor pups have been getting the same old chicken, brown rice, and carrots medley for three meals a day for years! Sure, we pop in the occasional handful of blueberries or an egg as a treat, but after reading this book’s generous, insightful, and varied easy to follow recipes, I now know it’s time to step up my game. There are “birthday cake” recipes, dog treat recipes, holiday recipes so you can include your fur baby in the festivities, doggie casseroles, frozen treats, and so much more. In addition there is a great deal of important information regarding nutrition information for specific dog breeds and types, dangerous foods, budget ideas, seasonal tips and tips for introducing a new diet to your pup. I love this book, and after my dogs caught wind of what was going on, they have my husband reading it too. Highly recommend.

This delivers on its title – it is thorough, covering many health conditions, the energy differences in different breeds, sources of protein, and tips for saving money, not to mention a wealth of recipes, among other ideas! I must admit I had never considered making a casserole for my dogs! My dogs would be very excited if they knew I was reading this.

Hi, I have had a lot of dogs over my lifetime. It’s great to read a book without fluff—straight to the important points a dog owner or lover wants and needs to know. The recipes are easy to follow—even I can do them, and I hate cooking—and the author explains why certain foods are good/ bad for dogs. This is a very good book for dog lovers!

I am thrilled to have this cookbook for our new puppy that is arriving soon! It contains more than just recipes . It also focuses on educating “ the chef “ about the basics of nutrition for dogs and how to provide meals for specific nutritional needs. It is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to provide the best for the dog (s) in their life.

There is a lot to like about this dog food cook book. The upfront information is well detailed about feeding differences in relation to breeds, health etc. A diverse range of recipes in a good range of categories. However only having the measurements in lbs with no metric conversion and not having any portion information in relation to dog size for each recipe are things that would make the book better. Also the book needs more proof reading as there are some recipe information mismatches, typos etc. That being said it’s a good dog food cookbook.
