Compact travel version of Scrabble
This is a replacement for a decades-old travel Scrabble set. The construction is good, the case zips closed and there’s enough room in there for a few dice and Yahtzee scorecards. As a Scrabble game the tiles are pretty small, which is a fair tradeoff for the convenient size. The tiles adhere well to the board, and if you stop mid-game your rack of tiles can be snapped closed and secured to the back of the game board so the letters remain secret and available to resume later. I find the rack difficult to use during the game, and instead use anything handy as a screen to keep them secret. That’s not enough of a negative to deduct a star from the review score.

This compact version of the game is AWESOME for your travels when you want to take the fun with you! IDEAL for the beach! It’s just like the regular board game, just in a mini version! Its conveniently made with a storage place for everything. The tiles snap in place on the board to prevent word play accidents and the tiles stay in place when closed just in case you need to break away from the game! Priced at a fair price for the convenience! You won’t be disappointed if you keep in mind, it’s a travel version and meant to be compact!

Love it really does travel!
So I take my mom for cancer treatments, and bought this because she LOVES Scrabble, and sometimes we’re there for hours.We break this out, pass the time, laugh, and then when we don’t feel like playing anymore we just zip it up. And then!! Next time, after riding around in my car for a week, we break it out, and just start where we left off. All the tiles snap in place, and it all fits snuggly into the attached carrier. One of the little tile holders was broken when I received, but I don’t care because it’s just the 2 of us playing anyway, and has brought both endless joy and giggles (I always play the dirty words)

I got this as a present for a friend who travels a lot. It is great for the beach and will probably always have a bit of sand in it. The letter tiles clip in to the board and will not move even if you spill the board. The board itself can be folded containing the tiles to continue the game later. The racks that hold the tiles have a lock to keep each person’s tiles secure for travel. This is a good gift for the scrabble aficionado out there. Overall, the game appears well made, the storage for travel is excellent. The pieces are small and fiddly, but this IS a travel board.

The board will not lie flat!
I love Scrabble, and wanted to be able to play it with someone who is in rehab for a few weeks to regain full mobility. This looked like the perfect idea, considering that we don’t have a place where we can lay out a full Scrabble board, and may need to play a game over two sessions. The tiny racks are adorable, and cover the letters for privacy or storage, although it’s hard to rearrange the letters. The letters snap into the board easily, making them quite secure when we pass the board between three players. Yes, the tiles are tiny and if you have arthritic or fat fingers it can be difficult to manipulate them. I think I’m going to bring some tweezers next time to see if they help.The big problem is that the darn board WILL NOT LIE FLAT unless you hold down both edges of the board, leaving you no hands to place letters. If you push down one side, the other pops up even more! I carefully read all the instructions and inspected the board before we started playing, and could find no way to lock the board into an open position, which would have made all the difference in the world! Maybe my case is defective, and with a good case it would lie flat, but it certainly doesn’t for this one.It’s worth keeping, but leaves me longing for my old magnetic scrabble game in the slip pocket, even though it was impossible to keep the tiles separated, as they all attached themselves to each other. I wonder whatever happened to them (I had two)….

We use it not only on flights, but at home relaxing in the den! Because the tiles snap into place, it’s easy to pass it around. If you need to, you can also store your unfinished game and tile holders securely until you’re ready to finish. Although we have the full size Deluxe Scrabble, we find that we most often choose to use this Travel version simply because we don’t need to be at a table to play. Fun way to introduce our 10 y/o grandson to the classic game– our family regularly has “game nights” and the grandson is always excited to come over to join in on a “grownup” game! Perfect for road trips and helps limits so much screen time

The racks for unused letters are still a tricky proposition, and the size, though smaller, is not as compact as older versions. The same holding mechanism that the board has would give greater peace of mind that pieces won’t spill everywhere while trying to decide a word on the run. After a few weeks of using it, I think the older magnetic versions still have the edge in the portability stakes.
