    Reliable; great product
The basic function of one of these things is pretty simple: take a car with a dead battery and give it enough of a boost in juice to get the engine to turn over. They certainly beat trying to find and then position someone to get a jump between cars. That said, there are several different “flavors” of jump starters. I’ve had the smaller 200 amp versions and found myself stranded when it didn’t have enough oomph to start my car from a fully dead battery. I don’t drive a tank or a pick-up with a Hemi, so it’s not like I needed a lot of juice. The little one just didn’t have the power. The person that was kind enough to brave a torrential downpour and give me a jump had a 500 amp that worked like a charm. This thing is a life saver. Off of one charge, it’s jump started over five cars and one was an Avalanche with a stone dead battery. The battery has held a charge for over a year, even being in my trunk the whole time. On top of being beefy enough to start every vehicle I’ve attached it to, there are little bells and whistles that add to the overall wow. There’s an attached LED mini-spotlight comparable to a medium mag-lite, an air compressor and – get this – a USB port AND a socket similar to your car’s cigarette lighter in case you want to power/charge a gadget for hours at a time without being near a computer. This thing has some heft but I didn’t find it obnoxiously heavy. It certainly weighed less than a regular car battery!Pros:1. Portable2. Powerful3. Simple to use4. Easy to understand charge meter5. Attached LED light for use at night6. Includes a USB port7. Includes a cigarette lighter socket (and cord) for both powering gadgets and slow trickle charging your car’s battery.Cons:1. No charge cord. You have to use a 3-prong extension cord to recharge this. After using it for several years, I bought one for both parents and a good friend and they, too, love it. If you’re on the fence about buying one of these, I’ll make it easy: BUY IT. You won’t regret it.

Works great with my Nissan Rogue in sub zero temps
This Stanley Power station is a must have for me. Sub zero temps in winter are a thing in my neck of the woods. sometime that is all it takes to drop the power on a car battery. Enter this Stanley J5C09 portable power station. open the hood, hook up the cable on the correct posts, flip the power switch and as long as you hooked it up correctly to your battery, start the car and get ready to drive. If you are like me, you are also going to check your tire pressures. You will have a great compressor to get your tires to proper PSI for driving with this unit. Need a work light? This unit has one. I added a quick disconnect for the compressor hose for faster hooking up to the valve stem. I also added a 10 foot extension cord for recharging the unit between uses. This unit can be a life saver. You can even charge your phone if you need to.It has a nice usb port and 12 volt power point AKA cigarette lighter plug. Get one.

    STILL WORKS AFTER 9 YEARS!!!!
I’m writing this review almost ten years later. It is still functioning and in great shape. I’ve used it as an emergency backup on cars when it gets cold and i know either my battery or alternator is on its way out. I’ve used it on the ocean to make sure my boat has enough power to start after tying up, i’ve loaned it out to family and friends to make sure they get where they are going! This product is amazing, and it has a functional air compressor built into it as well that still works. I’ve seen my dad buy cheap compressors that break the first use, and this is an extra that still works all these years later. Thank you for this AMAZING product!!! Not much survived the pandemic, but this device has been well worth it despite looking and feeling cheaply made it gets the job done!

Stanley 1000 peak amp jump pack with compressor and 1 problem – 4 stars
Do anything I’ve done at your own risk. First the negative: This product would have gotten 5 stars except for one glaring problem (for me). The compressor is handy for filling up small tires like ATV and bicycle tires quickly, BUT the switch is a pain in the butt. I have hauled this pack several times loose and in the cover I bought for it. If the pack moves going down the road or in the field, the switch can be bumped on something in the vehicle, and the compressor turns on. It can be unsettling for the vehicle driver (me), and it also runs down the battery until the switch it turned off. The remedy to this takes up more room but almost completely assures the switch will not be bumped. Carry the pack in a 5-gallon bucket with some towels or a wood block or something in the bottom of the bucket to raise the pack high enough in the bucket so the pack doesn’t “stretch” the bucket and split out the sides. Last week, I bought the 600/300 Stanley jump pack without the compressor, and the dimensions are slightly smaller, and the pack fits nicely inside the 5-gallon bucket I am using. The positive: Extremely handy for jumpstarting my zero-turn mower and ATVs. Riding mower batteries have been costing me about $50 a pop, and they don’t seem to last for me. So, the last time around to buy a new mower battery, I just decided to jumpstart my zero -turn mower, and it worked great. I have been using the jump pack this way for the last 2 years of mowing about once a week. As for my ATV, I put a toolbox on the back rack (yes, it takes up space on the back rack) permanently mounted, and I cut the cables on the ATV side and on the jump pack side and put the red quick couplers (available on Amazon) on the jumper cable ends and also on the jump pack and on the ATV. I put the jump pack inside the toolbox and strap it down. I can’t close the lid on the toolbox, but I’ve never had the pack fall out because the pack sits down inside the toolbox quite a bit. I also found out that winches pull a lot of juice. My 98 Grizzly only puts out 14A max from the stator. I burned out 3 stator pick up coils and 2 ATV batteries before I figured this out. The 1000/500 pack has worked flawlessly so far. The battery pack takes the stress off the stator while using the winch, and the stator also recharges the battery pack (duh) while the ATV is running. Since this pack also has a compressor on it, it is super-handy for airing up an ATV tire when it gets a bit low. My pack also has a 12v outlet and a USB outlet, and I have used both. I have a 175 watt power inverter that I’ve used to power the lights at the cabin, but it only lasts about 30 minutes tops, so use sparingly. I have used the USB for powering a small USB fan (4 inch) to circulate a small amount of air in the cabin, and it works pretty good for that. I have not plugged any sensitive electronics like my iphone into the USB, and I will not do it except if I’m desperate. The pack charges up from a standard wall outlet and a drop cord in an hour or two usually. Charge it after every use if at all possible. The charge indicator lights are nice. Overall, this is a very good product for my purposes.
