Bottom line up front: Overall, this watch is highly recommended. Notifications work for the essential RCS texting protocol. The blood pressure readings are far more accurate than I’ve seen with any other watch, once the ‘H Band’ app is properly calibrated. A crisp HD display, very long battery life, unique features, and good accuracy make this watch well-suited for monitoring health numbers. I wish the sleep study module was more refined, but nothing is perfect. For everything this watch does better than others, I’m rounding up to 5 stars.My Favorite Features:• RCS works! Notifications from Google Messages (Android) are automatically pushed to the watch for both SMS and RCS texts.• Accurate blood pressure numbers (relatively speaking)! No, this is not a medical device and cannot replace a blood pressure cuff. But the ‘H Band’ app can be calibrated to give far more accurate readings than any other watch I’ve tested.• It knows when I might have a fever! A unique skin temperature monitor joins the typical suite of health monitors.• ALL health monitors can automatically take readings 24/7 at 10-minute intervals.• The watch battery lasted a full week, even with all health monitors set to automatic. Wow!• Phone calls on the watch work great as does access to my phone’s default Voice Assistant.• Activity tracking (e.g. steps, calories, distance) works well and is easy to use.• More than 100 sports and workouts grouped into 11 categories for easier access.• 6 built-in watch faces and 154 free downloadable faces, including about a dozen cute holiday faces. Many casual and sports-oriented faces, though only a few are traditional.• Two comfortable silicone watch bands that are long enough to fit a large man’s wrist.• Outstanding communications and support from the SOUYIE team!Areas for Improvement:• I’d like to see more comprehensive workout statistics.• The sleep tracking module is merely adequate, in my opinion.The number one smartwatch feature that must work for me is notifications, i.e. the smartwatch phone app must push notices of received texts from Google Messages (both SMS and RCS) and email from Microsoft Outlook and Gmail. And I want to see enough text to decide if I must pull out my phone to respond. To my pleasant surprise, this watch does all these things and does them well. Many better-known smartwatch apps I’ve tested do not yet support the RCS protocol, so I was very happy when I saw about 100 characters of that first RCS text message on my watch.Next, let me say that I am not a medical professional. I am simply an old IT guy that has tested 14 different smartwatches these past few months and compared them with my home health equipment. I found that those with blood pressure sensors are typically so inaccurate that they are almost useless for anything more than macro trending. But this watch left me in shock. I found that it can give significantly more accurate blood pressure readings than any other watch I’ve tested, if properly configured.The secret is that the H Band app has a way to calibrate the readings and none of the other watch apps I’ve tested have that. There is a setting under My Device called ‘Blood Pressure Private Mode’. Enable the switch then tap on the text. The next screen is where you can calibrate the watch (see the photo). Just take your blood pressure with a regular arm or wrist cuff, then enter the reading in the Blood Pressure Private Mode screen. Then immediately take your blood pressure with the smartwatch and it should provide relatively accurate readings going forward. No, it will never replace a medical-grade blood pressure cuff. But it can take a measurement automatically every 10 minutes around the clock, even while exercising. This is an exciting and welcome supplement to my regular monitoring regimen.The other health monitors, like Heart Rate and Blood Oxygen, are also acceptably accurate, at least according to my home health equipment. Theoretically, the blood oxygen readings can help detect sleep apnea (see photos). This watch even measures skin temperature, another unique feature I haven’t seen in other watches. An H Band algorithm then converts the skin temp to body temperature. The body temp readings seem a bit low, but it will certainly tell me if I might have a fever, and that is important in this crazy post-Covid world.Standard activity tracking, like counting steps, calories, and distance, all work as they should. The watch can track over 100 different sports and workouts, grouped into 11 categories. The app captures all the basic data for each workout, but I’ve seen better analysis in other apps, so this is an area I’d like to see improved.Sleep tracking is the only feature that disappointed me. The data graph is very basic, and it does not do a good job of detecting when I’m awake at night. I’m sure it is adequate for those with more normal sleep patterns, but it just doesn’t work well for my specific needs. I really hope the developers can improve functionality in the future.This watch has a crisp HD screen and is packaged in a festive gift box with two watch bands, one in holiday colors and the other in standard black. Both bands are the same except for color and are comfortable to wear. I appreciate that they are long enough for a big man’s wrist. Also, for the holidays there are about a dozen downloadable holiday watch faces that you will be happy to show off to your friends. Most feature cute holiday scenes and one had me in stitches.
