Works like an oven thermometer should

My oven is really basic, and doesn’t have any type of beep when it reaches temperature. As a result, when I moved in I realized I had no way of knowing when my oven had preheated. So, I bought this! It seems like it’s relatively accurate, or at least it seems to match my oven just fine. Putting it in place is pretty easy, you just hook it over any part of the rack. I bent the metal hook part a little bit, just so that it feels a little bit more secure. I was slightly worried it would slip off, before I bent it. Anyway, seems useful. No complaints.

Helps monitor oven temp.
We suspected that our oven was not heating as it should . We purchased this to confirm our suspicions. It says our oven is about 40 degrees off of where it should be. This seems accurate with our suspicions. Its small and doesnt take up much space. We plan to leave it in the oven and monitor the temp.

They are analog so they are not accurate to a fraction of a degree. But when you are grilling, approximation is all that is needed. I purchased 3 of them so I could determine heat levels at various locations on my grill grates. Worked wonderfully and easily. I did confirm their accuracy with a IR Thermal device. Very close.

Maybe misuse- but not as low maintenance as I was hoping
I bought this because I was not sure my oven was consistently getting to the temperature stated. I was assuming I could just leave it in my oven as I used it, but the screen has yellowed/darkened with use and it is very difficult to read now.
