Excellent quality. Extremely fun to build.
This particular set is a perfect example of the ridiculous price gouging from the name brand brick construction companies. This was extremely fun to build. I received it as a gift for Christmas 2024 and was immediately surprised and admittedly somewhat intimidated by it. The packaging is excellent and the instructions are clear and concise. The added bonus of four small folding boxes was a welcome addition. I advise using tape or staples to keep them together. There were no missing pieces!!! The fit of pieces was extraordinary and this made the whole process more enjoyable. Overall a great looking model considering the cost of competitors versions. The only negative I can offer is the inaccurate length of the four pieces of narrow tubing that run the length of the boiler. Normally wouldn’t mind this but they are also mounting points for other pieces so I had to improvise in order to complete the build.Overall a super fun build. It took approximately 10 hours of intermittent work and I really enjoyed the process. I definitely recommend picking one of these up. Way to goNifeliz!! Great product. I hope this review helps you in your decision.

Exceeded expectations wildly
As a long time fan of Lego, especially large builds, I was worried this one would not meet my high expectations. While there were a few small issues this set is 100% not to be missed if you like steam locomotives or trains. Such a fun build, amazing set, it’s huge, good level of challenge and I’m surprised at the originality of the set too.First the pain points: it’s not Lego. You knew that. And while this never actually deters from the set, the overall level of polish is close but there there. Larger plates, sequentially assembled, fit a little off and tend to bow over the length. This was especially prevalent in the first chapter of this build: the huge track base. But once built it’s fine and there was no issue. The instructions are really well done though not quite as intuitive as Lego. Some of the slightly more complex sib assemblies are not shown complete after the sub assembly before movin to the next step. The long one-off pieces (hydraulic hoses and pipes that span the length of the boiler and wheelbase) are not quite the right length. While good they are not too short, I will get around to cutting them eventually as two are slightly too long. The design in terms of construction order is good, there were some steps that would have been better with an editor or two testing the build before final release though as the instructions could have been clearer. One glaring example is when putting the main drive wheel linkages on the drive wheels, it’s not overly obvious that the orientation of the wheels matters a great deal. But if the wheels are in the wrong position with respect to left vs right side of the engine, it matters and the drive linkages fall out when. The wheels turn. This was fun for me though as I was able to find the very minor detail in the instructions that I missed and backtrack and correct it. Still, official Lego instructions call out these issues to make sure the user is aware the tiny details matter. Also … The stickers were a pain I separate from the backing. Nothing a razer blade and patience couldn’t fix in the end…. But I never had problems with the backing not releasing on Lego sets. These tiny the bugs aside, the set was as fun to build as any Lego set I’ve done. I just finished building the 1989 Batman Batmobile and Batwing as well as the Tumbler and this was just as fun and just as impressive as the end and $200 cheaper than each of those sets. The bags are amazing with the actual step range each bag covers (such as 1-15, 16-24, etc). This kept the large pile of spare pieces to a minimum which was easier to contain over several nights of building a little at a time. Also on this note was the inclusion of the cardboard trays for sorting pieces. What a great idea! This made building easy and straightforward. All in all, this set was a great buy. I will definitely look for this manufacturers other sets and hope the experience is consistent.

A fantastic model at a great price!
A fun and engaging set at a near unbeatable price! I had a blast putting it together, with one or two minor hiccups that I was able to repair, replace, or glue due to mold quality issues. The only major spot that could use more attention is the linkage for the power train. It’s such an odd/tight fit that it causes the wheels to lockup sometimes. I would really enjoy a modification kit that could fix that, and motorize it so we could see this thing run!

A beautiful set that’s just shy of fantastic.
This is a beautiful set so long as you keep a couple of caveats in mind. These are not the bricks from the big brand that starts with “L”. You know the one. While they are good quality bricks, they are slightly lower quality than the others. That gives you a couple of issues that you need to keep in mind. The large, flat bricks, and the long ones, will be ever so slightly warped, and they won’t always lay quite flat. The other issue is that the fit between bricks is often EXTREMELY tight. So make sure that you have the right piece and you’re putting it in the right place before you press them together. Because for most of them, once you snap them together, it’s very difficult to separate them again.Another issue is that the instructions take some getting used to if you’re used to how the other brand’s instructions are. Not worse, just a little different. So take a little time up front getting used to how the pictures and guide arrows are presented. It especially takes time to get used to the parts from previous steps being a faded out grey, which sometimes throws you off.The last caveat is that the bags of parts have extremely tiny numbers printed on them in black. Since this model is 95% black pieces, and the print is tiny, it makes it really hard to find the right bag of parts . I often had to hold the bag up in front of a back light like a window or ceiling light and shake parts around until I could spot the tiny print. And the separation of parts bags has no logical separation. So you’ll often have to go find the next bag mid-step.All that said, this is a beautiful model, especially for the price. And it’s huge. Take your time and don’t rush and you won’t be disappointed with this one.

First off, let me say I’ve been building with Lego since 1966 when a German friend sent me a box of Lego before Lego even launched in North America. Then my family had $1000’s in Lego blocks and kits which have long been passed along to a younger family. I needed a hobby to keep me occupied in my old age and have come back to the brand so this is my Third Lego Life! What I’ve learned is Lego has put too much effort into movie brands and not enough into interesting builds. And the prices! OUCH!!I’ve been wondering about Nifeliz. The kits are certainly ones I would like to try and I finally decided to try out the Big Bad Boy!I paid $85 Canadian (after a $10 coupon) for a 1608 piece kit that is a very nice representation of the Big Bad Boy Locomotive. The blocks seem of high quality, and they are fully interchangeable with OE Lego blocks. The instructions aren’t quite as good. The smaller size makes it harder to puzzle out what exact colour block you need, and it’s harder to spot the differences in the images. But my eyesight isn’t as good so maybe that is more a me problem! LOL The build isn’t quite up to Lego engineering. I can see many areas that could have been improved and made stronger. The linkage for the drives is very fragile and can fall apart with an errant glance. I can see why some people have ended up gluing pieces together. I didn’t have any missing pieces, and even have a few left over. That being said this would have been well over $400 if it had the Lego brand on it.Will I stop buying Lego? No, they still have some kits that interest me, but the price tag is off-putting and it will be much harder to justify the difference for similar kits. Thank goodness there isn’t a huge amount of overlap! I’ve already purchased the Leopard tank kit! And I have many more Nifeliz kits in the wish list!I wish Amazon had more options for the ratings. I giving it 5 stars, but I want to take off 1/2 star for the small instruction booklet.

Simple parts choices in production mean that the bogey wheels cannot turn despite having gear links to tie them together.I should be able to get around this with my parts stock but really shouldn’t have to do this.Instructions also need to be reviewed, parts are shown installed and then magically missing later.Price point is great for such an impressive size unit. (Mini-fig scale) is about same length as the big name brand freight train at about half the price.
