I am impressed, but they don’t last.
The Motortrend Safekeeper, compared to the custom covers I have purchased in the past, is a better cover than any of them. This is my initial impression.In the past I have paid a lot more for a custom cover because I believed that you did “get what you paid for.” However, after a year, or less, I was sadly mistaken. And those “lifetime warranties” suddenly disappeared in loopholes. Those “custom covers” seem to disintegrate the same as ANY other cover.If this Motortrend cover lasts more than 12 months I will be happy. That’s as long as any more expensive custom car covers lasted.The MT cover is thick and soft. It has sewn in straps on the front, middle, and rear to secure the cover during those windy days. The 176-inch length is perfect for my 2012 Miata MX5. It covers all the way down to my tires. The only thing I miss are the custom mirror pockets and antenna glove. But I’m willing to do without those features . This cover looks good on my Miata.I recommend this product.UPDATE:After four months of heavy California sun with temperatures over 100-degrees, this cover has held up against tears. However, there is some disintegration with the surface layer. Dirt and dust have “baked” into the top plastic layer. I have been washing the dirt off of the car covers while they are still on the car and that worked to keep the covers clean and looking new for a while. However, no amount of washing has been able to remove the baked in dirt stains.I am sad to say that today, September 4, 2022, this car cover has failed after only FIVE month of sun exposure. I purchased this cover on April 6, 2022. Through this short time, the MT cover has become brittle and many tears are appearing.UPDATE: September 2022: I contacted MotorTrend Store Support to find out if there was a warranty replacement. I was referred to BDK automobile products from Amazon at ton@bdkauto.com.I’m happy to say a replacement cover was received after providing photos and purchase information of the cover.UPDATE: July 2023, The same sun damage and deterioration is taking place on the replacement cover. The cover is becoming brittle and the surface is absorbing dust into the plastic, just as before. I believe the extra 4 months of longevity, this time, is attributable to the fact that for a period of time I covered the MotorTrend cover with another lighter car cover. A car cover to protect my car cover, crazy. Will I replace the MT cover with a new one from out my own pocket? Considering the alternatives, yes. Every car cover purchased in the past, as I’ve stated earlier, has not performed any better at even a higher cost; unfortunately. And I want to protect my car as much as I can.Other than a garage or car port, does anyone have any recommendations?

Worth the price to buy
This is a very heavy duty car cover. We got it for our 2006 Mercedes-Benz and it fits perfectly. Extremely durable and when wet it does not seep through the cover, which is what we wanted. Keeps it safe and protected from the heat as well. Doesn’t get too hot underneath. Definitely recommend this car cover for anyone. It’s a little pricey, but definitely worth it if you’re wanting to protect an expensive car or just a car in general.

Measure your vehicle, DO NOT go by the description!
First of all, very thick, very nice cover. As you can see by the third picture, it says “this does not fit your 2000 Toyota 4Runner”. WRONG!! Do yourself a favor and measure your vehicle first. I measured, and I had an extra 4 inches of the length of my car. I would rather have something tighter and fit nicely than loose and flopping all over the place in the wind. Someone else had a different year older similar model and it fit the 185L and I think they said they had a roof rack as well. I have the roof rack and the front deflector. It fits like a glove! All I had to do was snap the straps and the middle one is very easy to throw under the vehicle to the other side. They all snap on the left side and there is elastic elsewhere. The sheer weight of this cover is possibly enough to keep it down unless it’s very windy but so easy to snap. I used all three of them. It rained really hard today with a lot of hail and I was wishing it was on and I needed to make sure this cover did fit my vehicle. They wanted to sell me a much larger cover , if you follow the chart. Just what I was looking for! Please measure your vehicle! This does not have the pockets for the side mirrors, which I folded in. As soon as I finally got the car dry and between rain and got the cover out, never looking at how to put it on it started to drizzle again. I knew the motor trend went to the front and shocked at how easy it was to put this cover on, especially in my early 60’s. Since I just put it on, I cannot attest as to the water resistance but just the look and feel and weight of it I think it will do what it is supposed to do. Very satisfied

Did well for about 3 months in extreme desert heat, but 70 mph tropical storm winds made it crack.
This is a positive review even though it lasted 3 months in extreme desert temperatures above 112 degrees until Tropical Storm Hilary hit with 70mph wind gusts which made it rip, it did its job and kept my car in good shape and dry during the rainy part of the storm and I was glad. I don’t think it was designed for those extremes and I recommend it because I had one before just like it that lasted several months longer when the weather wasn’t so harsh so I am buying it again. Seems to be the best for its price for living in the hot desert with occasional severe storms. It also keeps the inside of the car a lot cooler than the actual air temperature and it is very easy to put on and fits my car well. The elastic on the corners helps it to stay on the car while you’re trying to put it on during a windy day before you fasten the straps. I do struggle throwing the middle strap tie under the car sometimes to get it to the other side to buckle it and it takes me several tries throwing it under my car, so maybe the designers could make that tie longer so it will go further when thrown. The antenna patch sticker doesn’t stay in desert heat, but the material of the car cover is thick so it didn’t rip much so I just discarded it. I’ve tried other brands and like this one as it lasts the longest and worked. If you live somewhere with less winds and heat it will probably last much longer.

Great quality and value.
I bought this in the right size for my 2005 Buick LeSabre, which stays outside 24/7. This went through two Texas summers in Dallas without fading or cracking. Reflects the sun and has a nice soft finish on the car service. The seams stayed pretty watertight. My other covers all leaked too much. Really very good quality for the price.

Canadian winter is harsh. Snow is easy to clean off it. It fits well on a camaro ’98 but not tight fit. So we added rope to make sure it stays during the very high windy days. Durability : we’ll see in springs. If it survive our winter, it can survive anything.
