Bluetooth connectivity can cut off and on at times.
I decided to purchase this due to recommendations from coworkers. I have not been disappointed as of yet. I read in the reviews that Bluetooth connectivity was a concern and I did experience some connectivity issues with the block on the same island as the thermometers. I was cooking sous vide at the time and it would lose connection randomly, but then reconnect. My cook still turned out accurate and on time so while I wish the connectivity was slightly better, I would still recommend for use. If you think about it, it is submerged underwater and vacuum sealed in a bag, and still connects. I have yet to conduct a long smoker cook and if I see any negatives, I will update my review. As of right now, this is a win.

Want to be a Grillmaster? Buy This.
It’s expensive. It got even more expensive when I realized how much more I’d have to shave after my beard got even more manly; I’ve decided to simply embrace it and accept my Viking side. I do spend a lot more time answering questions about my incredible ability to put 4 filets on the grill at once and have them all cooked to different levels of doneness yet still come off at exactly the same time. My wife can’t keep her hands off me these days, though she’s having to run interferences with the neighborhood ladies; who knew?I’ve always been good with the grill and cooking over an open flame but it does require your attention and food isn’t getting any cheaper. When you grill, you want it absolutely perfect, and these things deliver These things are incredibly accurate, provide accurate countdown-to-done grill times, and also tell you where the hotter/cooler spots are on your grill so you can get your cook times spot-on for all-at-once serving. There’s even a resting time monitor to make sure they don’t lose any moisture by cutting them too early. The alerts let you charm your guests while your meat is on the grill doing its thing. If you want to up your game, this is how it’s done. Yeah, they’re expensive, but it’s a precision tool and is very, very high quality. The downside? The setup/update is a bit clumsy (most things are) and the manual use mode is a little clunky but it does let you use them without a smartphone if you must. I imagine they’ll continue to improve this as time trundles along. In the mean time, you do the setup once and you’re done, then it’s off to perfectly grilled foods.

Great concept, needs more thought in the execution
**update** 12/11/19 **update**I wanted to provide a small note here that I’m not pretty sure that the probes are only charged via the USB and the actual unit that is reading the probes uses battery. I think this to be true because my probes were on the charger for quite some time, i went out for a cook and it started telling me my unit (meater block) was low on battery. No big deal i thought, i grabbed the charger and plugged it in, to my surprise it did nothing. I had to change the batteries out. This is a huge waste of money if you’re having to purchase or even recharge additional batteries. why not just have the unit charge with the charging wire!?? If i could send this back at this point, I would. I really really wanted this to be the great product it seems it can be.**********************************************************************************************************************Original Full review:This one is tough. I want to say I love the thermometers because, I do. There’s just so many things that don’t seem to add up that leave me perplexed as to how this didn’t come up during testing.Lets get one thing clear right off the top, it meets expectations. Here are things I think are pros:The product — the product itself works as expected. You put your probe in, use the app to set a temp and it notifies you when that temp is reached. This is it in a nutshell and that’t ultimately what it does.Battery life — I’ve cooked a pork shoulder for about 10 hours and had no issues with battery life, that’s about as much as I can speak to that.Maintenance/Cleaning — super easy. The probes can be cleaned with warm water using your favorite antimicrobial soap or dish soap and you’re good. Here’s where things start to get silly in my opinion. You have a block with 4 probes that get charged via USB (or battery but lets be real most of us are going to go with USB). Now let’s say you are starting a cook that will require just one probe, still no issues you take your one probe insert it where needed and off you go with the rest of your settings etc. To power on that one probe, you must power on the block, if the block is on all 4 probes are on. Why not just let me choose which probe should be powered on while allowing the others to remain off for conservation of battery? Maybe it does let you do this but I didn’t see it in the documentation and/or the settings. I’m also aware (or am poorly assuming maybe) that the other probes that are still in the block are being charged if the block remains on the USB or battery power. Still it would be best if they were not on at all if not used. Now we’re in our cook have our protein on the grill, smoker etc and you close the lid. Your block is sitting nicely on your counter top which is likely a sliding glass door between and 30 feet away. Well your block will likely not see the Probes. So now you have to bring the block out by the smoker. To me this is no big deal, i thought i’ll take this little black thing out of its bamboo holder and we’re good. Well maybe I was to hesitant to pry on it more but I dont think the thing comes out. You have to take the entire block over to your grill area in order for it to pick them up. I honestly would not mind this but I really feel like I don’t want to take the entire set with me i really wanted to just be able to take the small black thing and put it near the cooker. To me these are just logical but again I could be using this thing all wrong however if that is the case then I would have to say that the small amount of documentation needs to be updated to further explain. In all, you are still going to get a thermometer that eliminates wires which to me is huge. Your cooks will be simpler and better with it. It’s just still a little rough around the edges in terms of practicality.

    Perfect Meat Every Time
had a Meater for almost 5 years! it is a great tool!!! The app is easy, the probs are sturdy. I highly recommend to get the next gen Meater… it goes up to the higher temperature, and we miss that. … I keep thinking I will upgrade us when our Meaters die… but they keep going!! They are a great product.

The best thermometer. Expensive but worth it if you love cooking. At first, we had trouble connecting one probe, nothing was working. Turns out, letting the block charge for longer solved the issue.Contrary to what I’ve read, we don’t have connection problems. We used it on the bbq outside with the block in the kitchen (at least 5 meters between them (plus the door closed)) and it was working fine.

This is a seriously nice piece of kit.It not only looks great, but is easy to use and works exactly as I hoped. The app is really nice and easy to use.The only minor criticism I have is that the little numbered clips that identify each probe fall of easily and can be lost.Expensive at $450 in Australia but you get what you pay for.

Set up complicated and did not work. Suggested I needed to change my internet settings to accommodate the item which I was unable to do. What should be a ‘plug and play’ item turns in to an expensive annoyance…
