Large and fun for travel or for the classroom
I ordered this Layhit brand space theme coloring poster as a creative coloring activity for someone who hasn’t enjoyed coloring books for a long time. We’ve got a long camping trip planned and this will be something creative for the kids to do (NOT stare at some sort of screen) while the grownups are working on dinner or other camp chores.This poster is about 4’ by nearly 7’ so it’s large enough to spread across a picnic table. We tested it by affixing it to a table using painter’s tape. The tape is important because it’s a huge sail that wants to blow away in the breeze. Painter’s tape tends to come off easily, so the poster can be put away with minimal damage. The paper is about average thickness, not heavy duty by any means, but it didn’t tear easily. Take care while unfolding it though. It came folded and was easy to re-fold along the same lines. When carefully refolding it after an afternoon of use, I was able to fit it back into the zip-top bag that it came in.We tested it out with Sharpie markers, Crayola markers, and colored pencils. They all colored nicely on the paper and the ink did not bleed laterally. Of course some of the ink (mostly the permanent markers) made it through the paper’s back. If you are letting your kids color this poster on your floor or on a valued table then I suggest you put a cheap plastic tablecloth underneath.Kiddo really loved the happy space theme with silly aliens and we loved that he had hours of art time and barely made a dent in the items to color on this huge table-sized poster.It could have been made from a different material (plastic) so that water and/or grease would not damage it, or made of a washable fabric, but that’s the main improvement we can come up with. 4.5 stars. If you don’t care about the bleed through, you can round up. We are all really glad to have this huge happy coloring poster.

Great summer activity
Now that school is out for the summer, I am hunting for good ways to keep my kids entertained and content. This is a fabulous activity! On rainy days, it is great to put down in the open space in the kitchen, plop down some crayons, and they entertain themselves. I would imagine you could also take it outside as well if you wanted something to do outside that would give fresh air. This is so big, that it can take several days to color the whole thing – with kid’s attention spans – and being creative is always a bonus!
