Great, Solid, Cheap
I picked a couple of these up after having used a new one for business purposes for a few years. When my company’s lease ran up, they turned them back in and we got new ones, but the ones we turned in were still as good as the day we got them. The ones I bought from Amazon appear to be exactly the same.I got these for some people who didn’t need the very latest and greatest, but still wanted something reliable. You can buy a brand new laptop for about the same price, but it’s going to be absolute crap that you’d be lucky to ever get satisfying performance out of, and will probably be dead within 18 months. This will treat you right from the start, and should give you at least 2-3 years (maybe more) of solid performance. I’ve never been a big fan of refurbished computers, but in this price range, refurbished business-class laptops are the way to go.

Surprisingly powerful for the price
I grabbed this refurbished laptop cause mine broke and I’m pretty impressed. I mainly got it for the 8GB of memory, but it’s CPU performs better in benchmark tests than other laptops you’ll find for this price, both new and refurbished.The battery I got was defective so I gave it a 1 star on battery life, but the refurbisher has been great and is sending out a replacement.Right now I’m running a VM with Manjaro (a Linux distro) and it handles it like a champ. It’s also acceptable for music production and small video editing jobs.Don’t get this for gaming, it only has onboard graphics.Two years later edit: Returning to say it’s still going strong! I stopped using it daily when I got my desktop but it’s still my only laptop. So for traveling or not working at my house (gets old) I use this and it’s great. Maybe I’ve been harsh on HP all these years, and the refurbisher did great!

Defiintly not refurbished. Does not work
They lie about it being refurbished. The computer I bought does not turn on. performed a hard reset and screen said cmos error. This is unacceptable, don’t buy this.

Good functionality, poor power consumption.
This was working fine for 7 weeks until the laptop wouldn’t power on at all. After various attempts to discharge it, test the power adapter, and attempt to reseat the battery and memory, I found out the battery needs replacement. But the seller was able to get me a replacement unit as it wouldn’t power on.This is a solid unit with a solid state drive, plenty of memory, with windows 10. I like the fact it boots so quick.

This is not refurbished
When I purchased this item the title claimed it was “renewed” and in the description it states its certified refurbished. When I received my item it was dirty. It looked like a used laptop and reading some other reviews it appears I am not the only one. On the upside it appears to be working ok but I sincerely doubt it was ever inspected. I contacted amazon and they told me I could exchange it or take a credit. I took the credit because I am terrified that if I exchange it I will end up with another dirty laptop and it wont at least work. At least there is a 90 day return period so if it does go belly up I can return it.
