A Legendary Adventure Unleashed! Five Stars for Avalon Hill’s HeroQuest!
I recently had the immense pleasure of experiencing the Avalon Hill HeroQuest gaming system, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I opened the box, I was transported to a world of epic quests, treacherous dungeons, and thrilling battles. HeroQuest has truly earned its place as a timeless classic in the realm of tabletop gaming.First and foremost, the production quality of HeroQuest is outstanding. The artwork on the game board, cards, and miniatures is beautifully detailed and evocative, immersing players in a rich fantasy world. The sturdy construction of the game components ensures durability, allowing for countless hours of adventuring without fear of wear and tear. The game mechanics strike a perfect balance between accessibility and depth. HeroQuest is easy to learn, making it an excellent choice for players of all ages and experience levels. The straightforward rules allow for quick setup and smooth gameplay, ensuring that the focus remains on the excitement of the adventure. Yet, beneath the simplicity lies a strategic depth that keeps players engaged and eager to explore further. One of the standout features of HeroQuest is its immersive storytelling. The included quest book presents a captivating narrative, guiding players through a series of interconnected scenarios. Each quest unfolds with its own unique challenges, surprises, and objectives, ensuring that no two adventures feel the same. The game master role adds an extra layer of excitement, allowing for dynamic storytelling and unexpected twists. The hero and monster miniatures are a true delight. The level of detail and craftsmanship is remarkable, bringing the characters and creatures to life on the table. Painting and customizing these miniatures can be a rewarding hobby in itself, adding a personal touch to the game and creating a truly unique gaming experience.Furthermore, the replayability factor of HeroQuest is off the charts. With multiple quests, each with branching paths and alternative outcomes, the game offers endless hours of thrilling gameplay. Additionally, the inclusion of expansion packs and user-generated content ensures that the adventures never have to end. The possibilities for new quests, heroes, monsters, and equipment are limited only by the players’ imagination. Finally, I must commend Avalon Hill for their commitment to the HeroQuest community. The support, updates, and engagement from the company have been exceptional. Nostalgia, meet modern tech
Nostalgia led to this purchase, as I assume it did for most people who purchased it before me. Finding the original set at a reasonable price is difficult, even when incomplete. The components of the set are all different from the original. All of the miniatures have been redesigned, be they the heroes, monsters, or furniture. However, the gameplay hasn’t changed in the least and the designs take nothing away from the game. You won’t find Warhammer 40k quality in the box, but the same goes for the originals. The rules are simple and almost anybody can get into the game without much instruction. The most experienced, or quickest learning player should take on the role of the “dungeon master,” and can moderate gameplay on the fly.I was too excited to wait for opponents after unboxing and was thrilled to learn that there’s a companion app that can facilitate a solo adventure. Since the app operates as the dungeon master, it also eliminates the need for a player to assume that role if everyone wants to be a hero. The only drawback is that it sometimes easy to forget to move your physical pieces and it may feel like you’re just playing a mobile game, if playing solo. This game may serve as training wheels for tabletop RPGs for some folks. It didn’t have that effect on me in the 90’s, but it did cause me to suddenly stream hours of YouTube videos on the subject recently. Perhaps I’ll go that route one day.Overall, I highly recommend trying this game if you haven’t already. Each quest is good for 1-2 hours of entertainment and you could easily return to it another day with the same group of friends/family. Just save the character sheets.

You can play solo, there’s a DM app. The game is fun.
The game is great. Played it with a 10nyear old, they loved it. Fun for adults too.If you don’t want to DM, you can use the Heroquest app. There’s a learning curve to the app, but you can figure it out pretty quickly. The figures look great, I love the detail they put into them.

Great game and great delivery
Sometimes when you order games like this they get banged up during shipping. Not this one. It came very well packaged and arrived on time. The game is fantastic and we got many days of enjoyment out of it. If you’re in to dungeon crawls you will love this game. Keep in mind this game can now be played solo with the ios / android app. Have fun!

Unbelievable!
This totally destroys the 1990s version. I looked a few years ago on ebay and prices were $100-$500 for incomplete and broken sets. The packaging, pieces, artwork and quality are awesome and for $75! If you liked the original this is the same game with better pieces. Easy to learn and fun to play. No RPG experience needed or complex playing mechanics.

Shipping: I received my item in EXCELLENT condition. The game was in a box straight from Hasbro factory box into an Amazon box. ( 2X boxes!) So the game box itself was in pristine condition. No missing parts/figured. Game Board also intact, perfect condition. So this is a good size box filled with tons of figures (both monsters AND furniture) which will likely find use in custom DnD games! Great for many ages; some “classes” could easily be played by someone as young as 10yrs of age (“simple” character with “simple” skills)Plays with a friend and my husband; all over the age of 40 lol It was fun. We’re DnD veterans so this was light and chill. However, giving us the DnD itch!Again, they have age 14 on the box, but I was pretty cool when I was 10… lol I know, kids nowadays are not how us 80s kids were built, but hey – to each their own! It’s expensive, might be worth waiting to see if it ever goes on sale; but this game is just getting harder to find, so maybe don’t wait too long!
