Easy and effective
WHY did I ever buy those premade filters? Cutting my own is immensely cheaper! Now I layer this with some charcoal media and biofilter sponge and I have a BETTER filter for CHEAPER!! And it’s not difficult to cut out a square. Seriously, SOOOOO much better!

The filter for the weed eater was getting expensive. Noticed that it was just a piece of very porous foam. Found this and works perfectly. I just have to cut it to size. Have several years worth of filtering material!

This is a huge roll of excellent filtration media. Its price/foot makes ordering those 3 foot length packs absolutely STUPID.

Not a quality filter material
This filter material is so cheap. It comes vacuum sealed so when you open the package it stats to “inflate” but it never really does. It expands a small amount and that’s it. Very flimsy material, it wont hold it’s form at all. Try something different. It doesn’t look like the picture, it is the same color just flat and soggy looking even when its dry, and when wet it holds its form like a wet paper towel.

Blue pad is soft and strong. Keeps its shape so well that i may actually rinse and reuse a few times. Yay! Fewer plastics in landfills.Size is multi year supply for me, but excellent value.I have lost fish from carbon dust despite meticulous rinsing. With this and potassium permanganate from Jungle/Spectrum Brands, I’m not worried about this happening again in any of my tanks.
