It just works effortlessly
I bought this as a needed tool for my new gaming rig (since built-in CD/DVD drives on desktop computers is a dying practice). It worked as intended as soon as I plugged it in. I was able to run and play games on my gaming PC from this external CD drive. It’s slightly faster than your typical disc drive, but it’s not significantly faster. It also comes with a portable sleeve/case making it a great addition to my tech support tools. The quality was impressive given the price and it was simple to connect and use. I have yet to test the compatibility on anything other than my Windows 11 home gaming PC, but if I do find anything worth noting, I may update my review accordingly.

Good basic device that does the trick. Sometimes the “open” function/button depression mechanism is somewhat touchy but this is not an insurmountable issue.

I haven’t owned this very long and I’ve only used it a couple of times but it seems to work quite well. I haven’t Apple MacBook Pro that doesn’t have a CD drive in it or DVD capability and I still do use that kind of media quite a bit so having this surround is going to be very useful.

Just works – can play DVD movies. I haven’t tried CDs, but I expect it will work with CDs as well. I haven’t tried recording, but I probably don’t need that function anyway.

Pros & Cons
Easy to install, flimsy as most if not all external drive are, connecting cord needs to be longer as most all external drives think they will be used on a laptop not a desktop. All in all it is well worth the price & the quality for what it is is good to excellent. Highly recommend.
