    Impressive Quality, Fiscally Responsible
I am nowhere close to being the pinnacle of medical knowledge, but as an EMT who works in the field of emergency preparedness and response, I am very impressed with this trauma kit. A key assumption before continuing with this review; I have not yet performed a thorough inspection of the CAT Gen-7 tourniquet, though upon a cursory review, it does appear to be legitimate and not a copy-CAT (forgive my pun). The kit is constructed very well and with good stitching. The exterior strap provides a decent amount of compression to keep the contents of the kit compact and in place. Comparing this kit with many others out on the market, I find that this kit makes some of the most financial sense, given the quality of the items included. The only things I would add to this kit are occlusive chest seals and cling/roll gauze; the latter being optional, but beneficial in extending the number of injuries or patients that can be treated by one kit by potentially being paired with the hemostatic z-fold gauze for one injury site, and using the Israeli bandage on another.I believe the next evolution of this kit does come with some of those additional items, but it also adds additional band-aids and smaller items that I don’t think are necessary for this type of kit.Kit strengths: Well packed; quality (reliable) equipment; good as an IFAK or to be stored in a bleed kit/large AED case, or to be kept on a jobsite.Kit weaknesses: Somewhat large/bulky, make sure it will fit in your intended storage space. The red velcro first-aid patch has small red fibers coming off of it, a very very mild irritation.Final Thoughts: There is additional value to be found in the origin of this kit. Being an American company with an official CAT Gen-7 tourniquet is important, especially if this kit is to be used for anything other than personal use. Are other kits likely to get the job done? Probably. But when it comes to a tourniquet, is “probably” good enough? In Ukraine, many copy-CATS are being discovered. Sadly, they are discovered when the cheaper windlass fails during application in a high-stress environment. Also, it may be worth considering other means of wound disinfection beyond the included alcohol prep pads. Studies have shown that use of hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol can harm tissue and delay healing. In emergency situations, it should still do the job, just bear this in mind.

    Basic, but everything you need
The items in the pack are of good quality. I bought this to take hunting with us in case of an accident. The CAT tourniquet looks legit so I didn’t need to replace it. I do wish there were chest seals included, because I did have to make an additional purchase to get those. The overall size of the pack isn’t too bad and easily fits in my hunting backpack.

It seems like a great product, but…
This product seems great, but before I even unzipped it, the handle tore out.

    Great kit! I got two
This is a nice kit for the money. I got 2, 1 for my truck and one for the house. To each, I added bleedstop powder, hemostatic gauze, wound closure sutures with the zip ties, a few large band aids, and some self adhesive wrap bandages.Peace of mind knowing it’s there. Hope i never need to use it.

    Awesome Product!
This trauma kit is just what I needed. What I love is that each item inside is quality. You can tell it was assembled with love. Moreover, I love the bag! I did 20-yrs in the US military. We had to get signed off every 2 yrs on first-aid using stuff that is found inside so this kit so this is perfect for me. 5-stars…A MUST HAVE.

    High Quality Basic Trauma IFAK
Just as a preface to the review, both my husband and I are medical professionals (ICU), and he has a military background, as well. We have a decent Emergency Preparedness supply of standard medical equipment at home, as well as a larger supply of specialty tools, bandages, medications, and even an AED, but were lacking much in the way of true trauma supplies. This kit is outstanding for filling that gap. The supplies included seem to be high quality and I don’t doubt that they would do the job in an emergency situation. For such a small pack it is surprisingly roomy: I found that I could fit in a pair of chest seals, some QuikClot, a tac pen, a multi-tool, and even a paracord bracelet with some room to spare. The tourniquet is somewhat old-school and I am unfamiliar with the maker, so I will likely replace that with a CAT 7 at some point, and an ET tube kit would be nice (I would not expect that to fit inside this IFAK, however). For those unfamiliar with how to use an Israeli bandage or a tourniquet, it might be handy to include at least a small sheet of instructions. Otherwise? I’m impressed, and my current plan is to keep one in the house and one in a vehicle, just in case. It’s no substitute for an ER and it’s something I hope never to have to use, but it goes along way toward offering some peace of mind. Also, we love that the kit is from a smaller, veteran-owned company.
