Great detail and explanations
Discovered this book having a decent amount of knowledge on the topic I feel. However, there’s a great amount of details covered and explained very well.
Darren Hennig –
Great general coverage of electrical engineering.
I liked the basic format, easy to follow. THings I did NOT like is that this was more for general utility electrical material and less general or RF related, though principles still can be extended. Great for basic coverage, as it is intended. Overall well written and good book for reference.
Dave Zehner –
good refresher
I was an electronic technician back in the 70s when everything was tubes and discrete components. In the digital age most electronic devices are obsolete before they quit working (about 6 months) so they are replaced instead of being repaired. I still like to tinker sometimes and am playing with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, so this is a good refresher to help me remember the basics.

To the point
It doesn’t waste time or space on needless derivations. It’s a good practical primer for simple electronic systems examples, which are probably the right next step.
Carlene Brown –
Perfect
My son thought this was informative and easy to understand

Mostly correct; needs an editor
It’s hard to strike a good balance between approachability and completeness when writing an introductory book such as this. Too much complexity glazes more eyes than a 12-hour flight, while too simplistic of an explanation will inevitably draw to most pedantic criticism since the Warren Commission’s report. Unfortunately, this book is all over the map. Some things are far too superficial (the concept of voltage is introduced without even mentioning one volt is one joule per coulomb of specific potential energy) while other areas throw the reader right into the deep end of the pool (magnetic permeability was discussed, but what magnetic flux represents was not). You can explain electrical concepts without hiding behind the math. But you have to start from zero and build up, explaining every part of the model you’re building. For example: “Some of the more obvious effects a magnet has on its surroundings, such as causing a compass needle to twist around, kind of resemble the effects of some sort of invisible fluid. The early researchers called this flow ‘flux’. The more flow (flux), the stronger the effect (torque). The more flux per unit area (flux density), the more effect. And so on.”Then there are the typos. For example, one horsepower is approximately 746 watts, not 735 W. And what is a “Print-difference” in figure 8? I think this is “difference in pressure” (d/p), except the flow direction through the pump is indicated backwards (downward).Overall, I’d say this is a good first attempt to convert someone’s notes from their own classes into a brief introduction for other newcomers. But it really needs more polish, especially at this price, before it’s ready for use. I would recommend running it past someone who actually teaches electrical theory at this level, fixing the typos, and re-releasing it for no more than $5 per copy.

Electrical Engineering
It’s a straight to the point book. I love that it did not have a lot confusing explanations.I learned enough to talk about the subject intelligently, do real-life projects and read college textbook level material with legit comprehension.

He gets right to the point
He gets right to the point. Not overloaded with words, just information. It’s an easy read for me, however, I have an extensive background in electronics spanning many years as first a technician, and then as an engineer working in industry. However, I liked the style, and it lends itself to a great reference book in electronics. And I feel it would work well for the novice as well as the seasoned professional who has been out of electronics and needs a handy reference book.

This book packs so much in just 150 pages, it’s a great insight into what’s to come for my studies.Technical illustrations really helped to explain complex theories.
Robert Houghton –
The author has made electrical theory simple and understandable. Vey well written.

A really good book. I was able to learn an enormous amount and get a lot of added value out of this book. I am very satisfied with the purchase and can only recommend it in good conscience. Simply great!
John –
Not obsessively detailed and mathematical but keeps to the point and provides examples with explanations. Thank you for this wonderful book.
