Casio is God Tier for a reason.
In the watch-collecting world, regardless of whom you ask, you will hear that “Casio is God Tier.” “God Tier” refers to something that is considered the best or top-tier in its category, often outperforming all other competitors. In the case of Casio, it refers to their watches as being so reliable, affordable, and high-quality that they stand out from the rest. You will see a Casio on the wrist of celebrities, millionaires, Kinds, and the average man. They are one of the few “Snob proof” watches.

    simple rugged watch
I have worn Timex watches exclusively for the last 20 years. I like the simplicity and durability of them, however, the elastic metal band on my last one failed where it attaches to the watch case in such a way that it had two pointy metal peaks that made it unwearable. I was going to simply replace the band, but it was cheaper to buy a new watch. I looked for something equivalent to what I had but styles have changed and I couldn’t find something appealing that matched my pricepoint. Until I found this Casio watch. I debated over the newer plastic-silicone bands, but worried about durability. I am an electrician, and get into some rough environments at work, dirt, dust, construction debris and such. Getting sweaty and dirty wearing a watch can make them smell bad over time(like the stretchy metal band on my old Timex). This Casio has a nice metal band, it seems very durable as well as being easy to close and comfortable to wear. The face and body of the watch is low profile enough to not get in the way at work or wearing work gloves. It is attractive enough to wear as an everyday watch too.The reviews I read prior to purchase were pretty much accurate, the manual is a bit daunting, but it is in several languages so it only requires reading part of it. I had a bit of a challenge getting it set, but eventually I got it right. The light feature flat out is not as good as the Indiglo feature of the Timex watches, but I don’t rely on that as much as I thought I would. The glow in the dark feature this watch has is also rather weak, it does work, but has no duration. The telememo feature it has is something I didn’t realize it has, but I can’t see how it will benefit me. I simply needed a watch that is accurate, easy to read, easy to wear, comfortable, and durable. This watch checks those boxes for me.Overall, this is a budget friendly watch that is well made and easy to wear. For me, the style and durability made it the right choice.

I feel it is superior to similar casual Casios in the $20-$40 price range.
So I looked at watches for a year buying this one on Amazon. I had like three or four different wishlists goin, trying to narrow down my choices. I chose Casio because I have found their watches to be very durable, super long-lasting, and very reasonably priced. I also wanted something that looked somewhat dressy, so I finally settled on an analog face with steel band. I also like seeing the exact date on my watches, so I decided on the Ana/Digi configuration. I was considering others that display the date as a one digit number because they looked to be more attractive than this one online. However, upon realizing that I should really shop for a watch in person rather than online, I came upon all the models I was considering at Wal-Mart. The Casios that were priced at $30-$50 (the ones that looked nicer online) looked awful in person! They were really shiny, flimsy, and looked cheap, fake. Also, I don’t like the one rolling digit date display on those because you have to keep on top of whether it is synchronized with the accurate number of days in the current month and make adjustments accordingly. To my absolute surprise, this model Casio looked very good in person! Amazon pics and reviews led me to believe that they looked like plastic and easily scratched. I have not found either of these to be true. It actually looks more expensive and impressive than the more expensive casios and there is a 10 year warranty on the battery. I’m gonna still have this $19 watch when I’m 50!? LOLI would have preferred the model with the blue face, but the majority of reviews said it looked more purple, and I mean – God forbid.. The face is a little larger than I would like it to be, but I have very small wrists, so most faces appear relatively large. Naturally, because of my small wrists, I had to have the stainless steel band adjusted. I learned that Wal-Mart actually offers to provide this service free of charge even if the watch is purchased elsewhere! I’m definitely not trying to advocate for Wal-Mart here, as they are an evil source of great power and wealth, but unfortunately I every penny counts on my budget. When I put the watch on, it fit perfectly. It had good weight, felt smooth, and wasn’t pinching my arm hair, as most stainless steel links tend to do.I have no problem seeing the time in total darkness thanks to the glow in the dark hands in conjunction with the somewhat dim orange light. However, I cannot see the date in the dark. Oh well. I think I can wait to get into a lighted situation in order to know the date, and I usually know the date, if I care, by the time it gets dark each day, so I’ll be ok. Many rwviews complain about the weak light. It’s not too bad! Also, one must realize that in order to guarantee the preservation of battery power for a whole friggin’ decade, one must make such small compromises. Although I do get it. I get addicted to those nice bright Indiglo-style watch lights and want to press it all the time! My guess is that those lights draw a good amount of power, because any watch I’ve owned with that loses the light power or all power in a relatively short amount of time compared to those without the glowing face feature. I imagine the LED technology that’s coming out now might be able to remedy this problem.Anyway, it’s a great daily watch. It’s perfectly casual, comfortable, functional, and somewhat simple. I only set up the date display, the digital time (which toggles with the date display), and the analog time by adjusting the hands. There are many other features I will likely never use. There is a stopwatch, a timer, world time, daylight savings, and a bank where names and phone numbers can be stored. This is an old model. Most of us don’t ever remember phone numbers anymore because we have our cell phones, and let’s be honest, who wants to fiddle around with entering someone’s name in their watch after just meeting them? Can you imagine? But I like that about Casio. If it aint broke, they don’t change it! That’s why we know we can count on the quality and durability of their products.

    This is a great watch.
I was looking for a watch that shows analog and digital time simultaneously because my grandson is still learning to read analog time. I taught him years ago, but with “smart” everything he doesn’t get much practice. My grandson should know how to read analog time. This watch can display both times, so when he reads the digital time he can also see the hand placements. He has a “smartwatch” but he can’t wear it to school, because the teachers think it’s too smart. I agree. This Casio watch is sleek and looks good. The band is adjustable, has a backlight, tells date, time and can store things like phone numbers. It is not a “smartwatch” but it does exactly what I need it to do. He loves wearing a watch everyday to school too.
