My one dog is a super chewer but the other has more delicate jaws and tends to be susceptible to hurting herself on some of his more sturdy toys. I grabbed this on a whim because it looked a bit narrower (good for my girl) but still sturdy (good for my boy and my furniture).First of it was definitely what I was hoping for in size. While sturdy it is still thin enough that my girl doesn’t hurt herself when she inevitably runs away with it when the other dog isn’t looking.However, it did take both dogs a good deal of coaxing to take an interest. Eventually I ended up hitting the toy with some gravy from their food before they really wanted anything to do with it. Whatever the scent of the toy is it clearly wasnt enough motivation for either of them. (Hence the four stars) but the gravy worked as an attractant for my dogs at least.And now for durability. It’s extremely sturdy. Despite the rocky start it is now one of my boys go too toys when he gets to pick something to play with. My girl likes it but it is certainly more his toy then hers. Which is good because his jaws are insanely destructive and so far this toy is holding up far better then the other two I purchased at the same time, and as it’s one of his favorites it’s not from lack of use!Over all this toy is great if you have a super chewed and/or a dog with thinner jaws who need a good quiet time toy. If your dog isn’t as instantly curious as you’d like I recommend some sort of attractant.

I was surprised at how hard this chew toy is!
I have heard of Nylabone who makes nylon chew toys for dogs, so I thought I’d give this one a try. My only concerns with this bone are the hardness and the nylon. I did some research online, and it says these super hard nylon ones can possibly crack or chip dog teeth. But dogs have been chewing on game antlers for hundreds of years which are super hard so take that with a grain of salt.My other concern is that nylon is a plastic polymer. If you look at the photo, my dog is an aggressive chewer. He did that amount of damage to the bone in one day. I understand it’s food grade nylon, but that just means that the type of nylon it’s made from doesn’t leach into foods that may be stored in containers made of this stuff. So, like the oceans, I’m not sure ingesting the little pieces that come off of this bone are good for your dog, but if you have a dog that’s chewing up everything you own, it will work great.Otherwise, I recommend Himalayan Yak Cheese chew toys. They are very hard, natural and fully digestible. BetterBone seems pretty good too, because it’s natural and made from wood pulp and sugar cane oil. Wood pulp generally isn’t digestible, but it is non-toxic. Nylabone also makes a Healthy Edibles chew toy from cellulose–but my dog doesn’t seem to like the flavor). Hope that helps!

Durable – not for fetch
We have had this for a couple of weeks for a 50-lb pit bull and it has not broken or chipped. I actually worry about it breaking his teeth the way he chews on it, but that has not happened.Only downside, generally speaking, is the hardness of the toy (and the looks of it, lol), but he clearly enjoys it. Definitely not a toy to throw in the house! He is 5 years old. so chews for 5-10 minutes a couple of times a day, then lays next to it.
