Best hiking pants I’ve tried!
I recently began doing fieldwork as an environmental scientist and needed tactical, lightweight pants to wear on site. I tried four different brands and these are hands-down the best! So comfortable and they stay in place. Love having zippered pockets. I bought them in three colors (black, deep gray, and suntan)I’m 5’8, 160 lbs with a 30-inch waist and 44-inch hips. Size large (regular length) fit perfectly, especially because of the drawstring waistband. The three other brands of hiking pants I tried were too tight on my thighs/butt and much too loose on my waist. This is a problem I frequently face when shopping for pants, and I’m so relieved to have found some that are both comfortable and flattering!

Great for casual hikers, well done on fit and material
Material: Worked well in rainforest hiking at 85-90 degrees. Never felt hot. At this price point, thin enough to feel cool but substantial enough to not feel cheap. Even slept in these comfortably as if they were nothing. Zippers were convenient. Wore over a wet swimsuit and it still dried nicely.Fit: Bought 3 pairs for 3 people ranging from 5’ to 5’3”, 100lbs to 120lbs. Elastic was comfy and none of us used the drawstring. Length sat right at the ankle on top of hiking shoes, leg opening not too wide, no bunching. Freedom of movement for steep hiking. This is no REI or Lululemon pant, but I got so much use out of this pant at a third of the price for an impromptu vacation. Really surprised at how well they worked out.

Lightweight, Comfortable, Runs Big
Baleaf is one of my favorite brands. These pants are no exception; they appear well-made, are lightweight and comfortable. They aren’t overly bulky and have a sleek appearance for a pull-up / tie-cinched waist. The fabric has a slight sheen, but isn’t “glossy.”Appears to run big… I am 5’6, 140 lbs and the Medium is very baggy on me. I am keeping (will be a great external layer over leggings) and buying again in Small.

Comfortable, lightweight pants for hiking and traveling
I loved these pants! They are lightweight and all the zippered pockets made it perfect for camping (why I bought them) but also perfect for the plane! Last flight I took, I nearly lost my phone when it slipped out of the pocket of my joggers. A kindly individual picked it up for me and held it until I got back from the bathroom. This flight, I tucked it in the zippered front pocket, zipped it up and didn’t worry the entire time. The fit was slightly tight for me in a large at 155 lbs, but much more comfortable at 147 lbs (and 5′ 5″). I love the many zippered options, although I have no use for the ones on the thigh. Again, great for evenings camping during the summer, but also fantastic for flying out of cool weather down to the heat in Florida. I would definitely buy again.

Works well for veterinary scrub pants
I love the pair I bought. I work in a vet clinic and these have been very durable for not just work but the consistency of being washed daily as I’ve had the same pair for almost six months now.No rips, no fraying, they’re very comfortable, and I can move freely in any position I need to be in to work with the animals. They fit me well both in size around the waist and length as I ordered the petite(which is hard to find when you’re a very short person!). It’s nice to not have to hem pants up.The drawstring has remained where it should rather than disappearing into the loop lol. I love the zippered pockets as well as how how fast these pants air dry, for in the dryer they don’t take long either. I do wish there was a wider variety of colors to choose from though. They are a bit pricey but considering the benefits I’ve found with them, it’s worth it.

Wonderful!
Love these! Bought one pair to evaluate for future trips and then got two more to take with me. They were wonderful for hiking in the hot humid jungle in Guyana and Surinam. Super comfortable, lightweight so easily packable and not too hot and best of all they dried overnight after washing out in the sink. I really appreciated the bungee ankle ties, many of my fellow hikers got itchy bug bites on their lower legs but I wore lightweight knee socks and tightened the bungees and got very few bites. I also liked to zippered pockets so I didn’t have to worry about losing my phone when climbing in and out of dugout canoes. I definitely plan to take them with me on an African safari next month and will also use them for local hikes.

Not cut the same (less curvy) in larger sizes
When I was a bit smaller, I bought these in an XL and loved them (I would say an XL could work from the larger side of US12-14 depending on build). For various reasons, I’m a couple sizes larger now (often a 1X or 16w on the bottom), so I grabbed them in 2X and 3X to see what would work. I am pear shaped. The 2X (in army green) are small/ tight fitting, especially across my upper thighs. I like the way they feel better than the 3X, but they visually look too small. Still could probably accommodate a larger tummy than I have. The 3X (in caramel) are HUGE in the waist. Needing to hold up the pants with just the shoelace drawstring is likely not going to be comfortable for hiking. They fit better visually across the rest of my body, but still seem cut funky for my curves, with a big old waist gap and falling down over my butt especially—just super weird in many ways. Edited to add: I put my XL pants back on *for science* and held them up next to my 2X and 3X and I’m forced to conclude that the plus sizes just aren’t cut the same. When sizing up from XL to 2X, the pattern adds several inches in the waist but does not seem to add anything near this proportionately in the hips and thighs, which is honestly where I need the room (not the most comfy but my XLs can still go on just fine at the waist). (See photos with XL in blue on top of 1x in army green, particularly the intensity of the curve from waist to hips). If these pants were cut the same as my smaller size, they would fit much better, but they just are cut with less curve to them in these larger sizes. They may be better for apple shaped plus size folks.
