Nice Basic Blood Pressure Monitor With A Couple of Things I’d Change
This ADKING blood pressure monitor is a nice compact device with a large and easy to read display.Included in the box are the unit itself, a nylon cuff with a 2 foot rubber hose attached, two sets of two AAA batteries (all four are required), a 3 foot USB-C to USB-A cable, a nylon carry bag, a printed quick start guide and a paper manual.The quick start guide has handy tips for placement of the cuff and how to start the unit. The manual goes more into depth about the operation of the device.The cuff has a diagram printed on it along with some arrows to help with placement.There are four buttons on the front of the unit, Start/Stop, Set, Mem, and Person. This device can store pressure readings for up to three different people (199 readings for each person), selected by the Person button. Start/Stop works as expected, while Set and Mem allow you to change a few system settings and review and/or delete readings.The hose plugs into the left side of the unit and the USB cable plugs into the USB-C port on the right side to power the device if you’re not using the included batteries.The device sounds a little anemic when inflating, and the first time I used it it cranked up to around 250 mmHg, which was a little uncomfortable. On subsequent readings, it’s only gone up to about 160 so I’m guessing the first run was a calibration.This is a basic BP device, so it does not have Bluetooth, WiFi or an app which is fine with me.Two gripes:This device does not store the date or the time of the readings. I have seen other devices in this price range (and lower) that do, so it’s a little disappointing that this device does not have that feature.My other gripe is that the cuff, while very sturdily constructed, uses the same nylon material on the inside of the cuff as on the outside. I had a very difficult time getting the cuff tightened in the proper orientation because the it kept slipping around my arm as I tried to tighten it. The velcro strip is long (about 5.5 inches), and the velcro is very, uh, velcro-y, making it a little unwieldy to remove too. My old BP monitor cuff had a felt-like interior and was much easier to tighten properly. Whether this gets easier to so over time remains to be seen.The BP readings that I got on this device matched up well with another I had access to.In all, this device is a nice, compact size with an easy to read display but very few bells or whistles.

The Adking Blood Pressure Monitor for Home Use uses 4 AAA batteries, which are included. I tested it out by using it on myself. I didn’t have any issues using it without help from anyone else, which is helpful.The battery compartment opens with little effort, unlike some products that are difficult to open. Its product title states that it includes a carrying case, but looking at the product’s pictures states it is actually a thin nylon bag.It takes blood pressure in about 20 seconds. It tightens around the upper arm fairly tightly as it works. Great how its display shows large numbers that are easy to read. Also very helpful that it shows if the results you get are normal or not by showing green, red, etc. Helpful for most of us that don’t necessarily have what a normal range is memorized yet.It’s hard to assess how accurate it is at taking blood pressure. I took my blood pressure 4 times within a few minutes and 3 of them were within a few points of one another. The other one may have been due to me holding my arm in a different position. I am going to try to remember to take my blood pressure before I go to one of my next doctor appointments so I can compare how close its results are to the results my doctor gets with the one in his office.
