Excellent resource
I am a “senior citizen” and subsequently am dealing with a number of age-related illnesses. I have excellent doctors but I do believe It is my responsibility to participate in my healthcare, including monitoring my many medications. Every time I get prescribed something new I question the doctor if it will conflict of any of my other meds. My pharmacist regularly runs the new script through a computer program to double check. I have been seeing a new specialist for a temporary illness; he prescribed a combination of some specific vitamins and said he was not aware of any conflict with my current meds. I checked with my pharmacist who informed me that one of the supplements did sometimes conflict with Warfarin. When shopping for the vitamins at 4 stores because no store carried all of them, the clerks all said there were no problems. No surprise, one clerk at a store that specializes in vitamins and supplements even said vitamins were “totally harmless.” The last store was a health food store. After telling me that Warfarin was a statin, and arguing the point when I corrected her, I decided I was done. As I was leaving I asked her if she had any recommendations for resources I might use to find more specific information. She recommended the new revised A-Z Guide, which was out of stock at the store. Fortunately, Amazon had it and the rest is history! This long narrative is just to explain why this reference is important to have in my home and in the home of anyone who is taking a number of prescription drugs. I trust all of my doctors and they have never failed me. But I also believe it is up to me to ask questions and do the research when something doesn’t seem right. The A-Z Guide explained the possible problem that the pharmacist mentioned regarding Warfarin AND provided the solution — simply take them two hours apart. I am grateful to have found this excellent and thorough reference. The information is easy to understand and answers questions that the material provided by the drug companies does not.

just what i needed
This book was mentioned in “The Metabolic Approach to Cancer” … it is a perfect addition to my Nutritional Therapy practice. So far, I have found every drug I needed to find, and it a great to see easily the interactions and depletions. No complaints or regrets.

Book about herbs interactions
I take different herbs and I want to make sure that they didn’t interact with other herbs or medications. This book is the real deal. I am very pleased with this purchase.

Great to have, but room for improvement
I’d seen this book in a couple of physicians’ offices, and with the various meds my family takes as well as supplements, I thought it would be a good thing to add to the bookshelf. It is a nice reference to have to make sure that nothing you take, or take it with, is a dangerous combo. The fact that it includes what nutrients a drug or supplement or herb might interact with is worth the purchase alone. While the printout that comes with our prescriptions might list some dangers, they generally don’t list all. It’s nice to have a reference at hand to verify and hopefully prevent any complications. I also like that the contributors come from multiple medical disciplines. This book does, however, needs to be updated as it hasn’t been revised since 2006 (though I may just not be finding the latest version). Many drugs and supplements have made it to market since then. Another wish would be to see this offered as well in a book maybe half the size – similar to the Merck Family Desk Reference. A large print version for those with visions issues might do well, also.

A good book to have if you take RX’s and supplenents
I’ve been taking supplements for years, but just recently I was put on some prescription drugs and I wanted to make sure that I didn’t have any interactions with my supplements. This book was a great reference and much easier than looking up all the different meds and supplements on the internet.

Very Helpful Book!
Everyone who takes any herbs or medications at all needs this book. It is easy to use and very complete in its listings, taking only a few minutes to check what you are taking against side effects and interactions. This book tells you things about your medications that even your doctor may not know. It has been very helpful to us in scheduling when to take different meds. Some things that interact negatively can work out perfectly if taken several hours apart. Try it, and you will be amazed. This little book just might save your life.

I work in a pharmacy and found this book very useful in prescribing medicines, but it would bee of great use to anybody who wishes to know a bit more about the medication they or a loved one are on

Ik verkoop voedingssuplementen maar dit boek is enkel uit het standpunt van medicatie. Ik heb andere gevonden die ook uit het standpunt van kruiden en vitamines vertrekken wat voor mij toepasbaarder is.

I am studying naturopathic nutrition, this is one of the recommended books. It’s organised really clearly and is not at all complicated to use. It has extensive information and is very useful for assignments and for practice clinics.
