Grateful for this book.
I randomly ran across this book in an online article for weight loss advice for the over 50 crowd. I clicked the link and bought it based only on that article, which was not directed specifically at diabetics. When it came and I realized that was the target demographic, I decided to go with it.I couldn’t be more pleased with my success. I have not been diagnosed as diabetic, or pre-diabetic (blood sugar is always normal in testing and my A1C has always been as well), but this food plan works for me. I was apprehensive about eating all those calories, but it worked. I think I had been starving my body, putting it into starvation mode.I read and studied the book and then decided the mix and match plan was for me. There are plenty of yummy foods and recipes of all stripes (including vegan) for those who love to cook as well as shortcut suggestions for those on the run, like me. I plan my Power Burn for days where I’m going to be out busy so don’t feel deprived at all. Water drinking is also key to keeping the hungries away.I feel better since I started this plan. I have more energy and as long as I’m disciplined about eating regularly throughout the day, I don’t crash in the late afternoon.I heartily recommend this food plan.

Best eating plan ever!
Great book. Has a lot of good info on how the body works in relation to the food we put into it. Have been on the plan for 5 weeks. Have lost 2 pounds and glucose went 135 to 91. Doesn’t feel like a diet at all. Couldn’t loose weight on other plans I have tried including Weight Watchers. Would highly recommend this book. Great recipes even for those without a weight problem and just want to eat healthier. I give this book 5 stars. As for the seller, my book was delivered quickly and looked brand new.

Very well written and easy to follow
First I would like to say that I chose 4 stars as I very rarely give 5 stars to anything. It has to be something spectacular and above my expectations to rate 5 stars from me. That being said, I really like this book. I was diagnosed with pre-diabetes about 10 months ago and I have been struggling since then to keep my blood sugar numbers where they need to be so that I don’t completely develop Diabetes. This is the first product that has helped rather than confused me on how best I can accomplish my goal. This book explains the triggers, whys, and how-comes in a straight forward easy to read and understand format. Now I know why I’ve struggled with my weight all my life and why ‘normal’ dieting has never worked for me. The diet is comprised of what I call real food; food that I can make for the whole family rather than diet food that I have to eat while everyone else gets to enjoy a real meal. You can have muffins and pancakes for breakfast, there are creamy soups and full of flavor salads, meatloaf, fish, pizza, lasagna, smoothies, cheesecake, and pies. Plus, if you make a ‘bad’ choice, it’s easy to get right back on the diet. I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a family history of Type 2 or Pre-Diabetes. I would also recommend this to anyone that just wants a healthier lifestyle.

2 day diabetes Diet is good anytime for anyone diet.
Really healthy eating when you get into the sync and rhythm of planning your meals, more food than can eat. Not sure this would work for anyone using warfarin (lots of greens) but saw my go from average use of 100 units of insulin down to 12 units a day average. It’s mis leading title, it’s a 7 day a week diet, but 2 days is more restrictive- it’s easy- to make good tasty food of; The diet itself, very healthy, very satisfying, hunger is a non issue. I virtually never feel “food deprived”, there’s a lot of it and the food isn’t boring either.

Clearly Designed for Women
I downloaded this book to give the diet a try, which I will do soon. I’ve read through the whole thing to understand the science and methods, and to decide is this would be right for me.One thing that I began to realize as I was reading is that this diet is clearly aimed towards women. First, every first-person success story in there is from a woman. Usually this sort of plan aims at being as inclusive as possible with their success stories so you can always find someone you can relate to. Second, the calorie goals are aimed for women. As frustrating as it is for women trying to lose weight, the fact is that men require more calories. For “power burn” days, the calorie goal is 650. Okay, that’s supposed to be a fast with just enough food (and the right kinds of food) to not cause a blood sugar issue. I got it. But the regular days – the “nourishment days” – have a calorie target of 1500. For most overweight women, that’s already fewer calories than the body requires, prompting weight loss. For overweight men, it would be far too low.I was hoping to be able to do this with my husband for meals we eat together, but that’s clearly not going to work without modification. We can do that (a second half-portions for him, etc), and I hope this entire plan will work for me. But if you are a man considering this book, I recommend trying another method. I wish they stated this on the cover somewhere.

A healthy diet using processed food? Not!
The first part of the book was somewhat informative, but the recipes are horrible! Any diet that endorses vegetable oil, processed food (bread, pita, tortillas….read the labels -gross!), and artificial sweeteners, is not a very good diet. Pasta is loaded with carbs and can jack up your blood sugars in a hurry. Not good! It’s okay to have a diet soda??? Have you ever read those ingredients? Not healthy. Processed tofu is not the best thing either. Sad that they didn’t suggest organic veggies and organic dairy products. The concept might be there, but the recipes are not very healthy. I am sorry I wasted my money on this book.

I brought this as i am borderline type two diabetic, I am on my first week of this diet but after 4 days I’ve lost 4 lbs and have more energy than ever before! I started on a power burn day and it was hard but by day two my energy levels were up and the recipes are surprisingly good for diet food!

I have made about 6 recipes so far from this book and each one is amazingly tasty and the whole family loves them.I can’t say that I’m following the plan they recommend completely, but I am definitely eating to plan and have seen weight loss in a short few days of starting. Even if you buy this book only for the recipes you won’t be disappointed. Who knew healthy lower carb eating could be so tasty and satisfying! Spices are used often in most of the recipes and I believe that’s why the dishes are so tasty. Thanks, Reader’s Digest, for bringing this book to print!!!!!
