Perfect book for a teenage girl who wants to find herself
I bought this book for Christmas for my 17 year old daughter. She had expressed an interest in makeup for the first time. She loved the book. She and I sat together and read it from cover to cover on Christmas Day. What makes this particular makeup book stand out?1_ So many makeup books are techniques and step-by-step manuals for achieving celebrity looks. This isn’t that book. This book is about enhancing who YOU are. Indeed, this book is full of makeovers that are natural, everyday and -surprise!- teenagers look like teenagers!2_ The voice that the author uses is like a helpful aunt or BFF who just wants you to be the best you can be. Weight is addressed briefly by mentioning healthy eating habits and being comfortable with your body. I loved the common sense tone and my daughter (who is a size 2) found it very comforting.3_ Unlike some books that are a laundry list of all the products you need, and where to buy them, this book doesn’t “sell” anything. Bobbi Brown has an entire makeup line sold at better department stores, but it isn’t pushed. Except for a couple of photos showing the brand name on a lip gloss as it is being applied, the approach is very, very low key. There isn’t even any appendix. The only reference to the cosmetics is on the book jacket in the form of a QR code you can scan that leads to the author’s web site.I was very impressed with this book, and honestly, this is the way it’s done. After reading the book, we will now go and search out her makeup. And the main reason is because she didn’t push it.Well done.

Very good book!
I was looking for a book that had some good makeup ideas. I saw this book in Seventeen magazine and it looked good. I typically wear “boring” makeup, and I wanted to spice it up a little bit! This book has very good tips on makeup; like how to make your eyes pop, applying blush, what to do if you have pimples, and a bunch of other great things. If you are a girl and you have NO IDEA how to put on makeup or you don’t even know what makeup is this is a great book to follow because it shows you how to put makeup on the right way.

I purchased this book for my teenage niece who is 11 going on 21. Although, I do not think she needs make up, she is going to wear it anyway, so I thought this would help her. What I love about this book is that it is about total beauty, inside and out. It talks about taking care of your body, hygiene, personal style, and fashion trends. There is some application instruction and guidance for how to buy make-up too and as always, Bobbi focuses on enhancing your natural beauty, not covering it up with make-up.

Great Book for Tweens
I purchased this for my 11 yr old daughter. It is a great book for Tweens/Young Teens it teaches age appropriate makeup for young girls. It also teaches about fitness and good eating habits as well as some fashion tips. My daughter loves this book and often refers to it she has also shared it with her friends. My only reason for a 4 vs 5 star review is that I wish you could still get the makeup kit that Bobbi Brown sold to compliment this book. It is the type of book I wish I had at this age.

I bought this book for my 14 years old daughter, it was one of her Christmas presents.I really do appreciate how this is not only a make up book but also a book on everything for teen agers girls.It is full of very healthy tips on health, life etc…Yet it is not written as a lecturing book, but as tips from a hip knowledgeable girlfriend .I feel that it is an essential book for girls.My daughter loves this book, I love this book and even got some good make up advises from it for myself.Healthy, fun and full of good tip, I really recommend it. Mother and daughter’s big approval!

Informative and Fun
My 12 yr old daughter requested this book for Christmas this year and so I ordered it here on Amazon as this was by far the best price I found. I had heard other mothers say it was good for girls, but honestly I had never looked at it until it arrived. She loves it! And so do I! It is very informative to teenage girls just learning to apply makeup. Bobbi Brown is conservative with her approach, which I appreciate as a mother. I spent a lot of time looking through the book and found some really good information for myself. I think it would be very useful to older teens and twenties too, as there is good info on going out and party looks as well.

I love this book. It’s helpful for anyone who is into makeup and beauty but it’s best for girls just starting out with makeup. Bobbi Brown is so honest in this book. She is not trying to sell her products through this book, she truly wants to help people. She informs readers where to spend the money and where cheap stuff is better. It’s really great and features very natural looks, not caked on diva makeup.

ボビー・ブラウンのビューティ本といことであまり内容を読まずに購入したが、NARSやKevyn Aucoinのようなメイクアップ本ではない。ボビー・ブラウンは素肌感を大切にするブランドなので、『１０代から２０代前半の若い女性のため…』に美しさとは、素肌の美しさであることを強調している。無茶をしがちな若い女性のために美しい素肌を保つには、日々の生活習慣が大切であることを切々と説いているのだ。日本人なら知っていて当然のこともこの本には随所に見られるが、これもアメリカではあまり実践されていないことの裏返しだろう。眉をこうすればこうなるとか、アイメイクがどうのというものではない。若い人向けの入門書である。

I gave this to my niece for her Christmas as she is early teens. I looked at other books aimed at teenagers but I didn’t feel they covered as much as Bobbi Brown. She was delighted with the gift and I think has enjoyed reading the hints and tips offered in the book.
