Reduces menstrual cramps to a minimum
I waited for two cycles to be sure it was this product that reduced my normally horrid menstrual cramps to a bare minimum. I bought this for increasing bone density and improving my teeth. Little did I know that it was also make my menstrual cramps so much less. There’s even an NIH study about calcium and Vit. D for period pain. There’s also a product that uses the same type of red algae calcium for premenstrual symptoms and pain relief. I had partial success using a dietary enzyme for period pain before, but that didn’t work consistently. This red algae calcium is much better. NSAIDs really mess up your gut, and I wanted to reduce dependence on them. I take only two at a time because taking more than 500 mg of calcium in one dose doesn’t absorb well. I take a second 500 mg dose at least two hours after my first dose. Don’t take calcium with caffeine since caffeine reduces calcium absorption. I don’t eat a lot of dairy. Good luck and God bless!

Difficult to swallow.
I find that half the times I have a difficult time swallowing these capsules. This calcium is 4 times a day so it’s a lot of difficulty. I did discover that if it swoosh it around in my mouth for a little bit with water it does reduce the stickiness of the capsule and have a chance of sliding down better. Great price and I like the company..but it’s work doing 4 capsules every day.

Red mineral calcium is the best and most absorbable calcium you can buy. It is very pricey normally, but NOW brand vitamins and supplements has a calcium I can afford. I have always used calcium. and magnesium together and have never broken a bone. I’m 83. Not that I’ve used red mineral calcium always, but since I was 35 I have taken a calcium supplement to avoid osteopenia, The RX for osteoporosis is hard on your stomach, so I began taking supplements when I was approaching middle age. ( I’m female. if you haven’t guessed) I do recommend NOW brand. I use their other supplements as well. They are of a good quality, and are reasonably priced.

I came across red mineral algae as a potential to supplement my own calcium levels. I’m very much into eating healthfully, and supplementing with natural, non-synthetic supplements, and I thought this sounds like it would be a wonderful addition (or replacement for another calcium supplement I was taking) to my supplement regimen. While I can only say that I notice a calming effect and perhaps an improvement in thickness of, for example, my collar bone when I occasionally check its thickness, my mother seems to be reaping tremendous benefits from this supplement.Lately, I have noticed that my mom seems as though she’s in more pain than usual when rising from a seated position, and she was having problems putting much weight on her right knee. She tends to take synthetic supplements, of which I have been trying to convince her to try non-synthetic alternatives. Recently, I was able to convince her to try this NOW Foods’ Red Mineral Algae supplement, and, only a day or two into taking it, she is moving around MUCH better :). She also feels better and, though I’m not sure whether this has anything to do with this particular supplement, her stomach issues have improved, as well. I thought it might be a placebo affect, as it seemed to help her almost immediately, but the results have lasted for the last two weeks, so it must be a result of this supplement, as nothing else in her diet or otherwise has changed :)I sincerely hope this helps those who are considering purchasing this supplement for themselves or a loved one.
