This is a bit difficult to fasten, as the belt does not slide easily in the buckle for tightening, Older folks tend to be bent over, and the buckle tends to ride high, rather than low around the waist. If one is moving a person to the toilet it must be high enough to clear the pants, which also puts the buckle in a painful position. It would help a lot to have padding that extended fully behind the buckle to avoid this. That said, this is hugely easier to use than the standard unpadded gait belt.

My Dad uses this to help him lift my sweet Mom. She can stand and walk a bit. But helping her move from the bed to the wheelchair (and back) is very taxing. He’s strong but having this padded belt with handles prevents him from hurting himself OR HER! It keeps him from worrying about that, too. Any caregiver would benefit from purchasing this lift belt. There is no need to hurt yourself or your loved one when you can make it a little easier to relocate your loved one from one spot to another. If you having aging parents, buy them one as a gift! Warning: Poorly made
I liked the idea of the four handle loops on this gait belt. In the morning I could put it on my disabled wife, who has a neurological motion disorder, and it would be there when I helped her up from her chair for meals and the bathroom.Unfortunately, this device is poorly made and is actually dangerous. The first time I used it the top portion of each handle loop pulled out from the stitching at the top. The loops don’t have adequate length after the stitching and the loop fabric simply pulled apart and slid out from the stitches. I’m glad I wasn’t helping my wife down the stairs when this happened. The problem could have been avoided if they simply did the top stitching like the bottom, which has the loop folded over so the stitching goes through a double layer.A very disappointing and dangerous product.
