This simple piece of wood is very helpful. In our experience the board has made transition in & out of our larger SUV much easier and safer. With relatively good upper body strength, our son can use car hand grip to lift up out of wheelchair and the board to support his body while sliding up onto car seat. He uses board again to exit car & return into wheelchair. Recommend.

Bought this for my disable uncle, he likes the idea of having holes built into the board so he can pull himself out of his chair. However, he says it’s not the best option for males. Apperantly, when he slides, the family jewels get stuck in the openings.

In early 2016 my secondary progressive MS sentenced me to the chair – for life. Three years later and I’m still obstinately using a manual wheelchair, though it does have a handy detachable motor assist that I can use for ramps, slopes, deep carpets, grass, sand, snow, lava, and other soft surfaces denser than water. But standing has gotten increasingly difficult with the slow progression of time. One big problem for me is transferring between the wheelchair and the front or back seat of an automobile. I was given the small version of this for home use; shorter distances and equal heights are perfect with it.Getting to and from my son’s car became dangerous without the board, and remained risky using the short transfer board. So I bought this one. I’m overjoyed. The greater length and width provide much better stability. The large rubberized anti-slip pads on the bottom at each end provide a much greater sense of security when the wheelchair and the car’s seat are a few inches apart in height. The surfaces of this board are heavily varnished and completely smooth. The combination makes a transfer that is easy and rock solid.This board does not sag at all at any point. I’ve tried out a couple of supposedly sturdy plastic boards the same size and maximum weight capacity; they sagged alarmingly in the middle. I felt as though I was in danger of a sudden plummet to the ground. There’s no sag with this board. It feels as steady as something that’s really steady. Highly recommended.
