Industrial/Shop face shield doing double duty as Covid droplet shield.
It aggravating that people give a product a poor rating because of their own inadequacy.First, this is an industrial/shop shield, in various configurations.The blue or white covering over the shield needs to be removed. This is for scratch protection during manufacturing.There are versions that fit a hard hat, and it won’t fit your head until you have slots cut just above your ears.One negative review, with pictures yet, shows a version that fits a hard hat and the woman is whining because she can’t tighten it too her head.Someone complained they can’t wear a hat with it. This is not a hat style. Get a hard hat style and the proper hard hat and you can work in Texas heat and keep your head cool. I know, I have done it. A skull cap or welders hat can be worn under this shield or for black guys ONLY, a reversed baseball or gimme cap can be worn under the shield.A shop towel cam be used, either to wrap around the bands or flat over the entire head.The style without the chin guard can be cut to fit if it is too long.The headband is adjustable. The adjustment is such that it can fit very large to very small heads, unless you are a true pinhead, then there is room on the band to drill extra holes in the band.There are several styles of face shield. The complaints I have read on both styles of helmet is not the product, but the inability of the purchaser to know how to use it.This is an industrial product. Industrial products are not designed to be idiot proof for the un-washed masses.This is an excellent, well made shield, which does what it is designed to do extremely well, so good, in fact, that it can be used as an effective anti-droplet shield.Replacement face plates are available.

Things have changed so much due to COVID and it’s no different in the skin care industry. I was trying to find a comfortable shield that could be sanitized following each Client and that I could wear a mask under without feeling claustrophobic..this fit the bill! Although, I feel like a bird pecking on a window when using my mag lamp for extractions, the rest of the time I forget it’s even on. That shows you how comfortable and lightweight it is. Although, I do have ‘*phantom shield’ once home around my head, it’s worth it for the extra layer of protection.I referred a few Esthetician friends to it and the price jumped!!! Thankfully, it dropped a week or so later. It’s very disturbing when people try to take advantage of this horrible virus to price gouge! Anyway, if you work in an industry that requires extra protection, I recommend this mask..provided they keep it at $35 or below!!!PS: Ladies! Adjusting this to fit over a pony tail, bun, etc. is a challenge. You need to put the shield on and THEN adjust your hair (learned this the hard way). When you wear a mask all day, so there is no need for make-up, and since you have to adjust your hair each time you apply and remove the shield, there is no need for spending time on your do! This cuts a good 1/2 hour or more off your morning routine! 😉*Phantom Shield..what I mean by that is you have the feeling on your skull like you are still wearing the Shield. It goes away and it isn’t uncomfortable. Just an odd sensation. Like after you are able to remove your masks after a long day and you have ‘phantom mask’.

Good but missing parts
I had to descale the frame of a truck and wanted to use a knotted wire brush for most of the work. I’ve used those whirling devils before so I knew what to expect. Unfortunately my last face mask had been doused with acetone and was clouded beyond use, so I bought this.Assembly should have been easy, but the posts that hold the headband to the mask were the wrong ones for this application. They didn’t fit properly in the headband and just spun when I tried to tighten the tension knobs.Rather than go through the return process and wait for a replacement, I adhered them to the headband using CA glue. I tightened the knobs very carefully to prevent the posts from breaking loose.It was a little janky but it worked. My grinder and I made a cloud of flying rust that you could see on weather radar, but I was completely protected the entire time. That shield WORKS. Yep, I’d buy it again, even with the wrong posts.

How to choose
I was worried about how it would feel to wear this but after a couple of days I actually forgot I had it one. This model with the metal crown provides more protection than the one with the plastic crown. It extends farther to your ears and is longer. It feels more stable on your head than the lighter one with plastic crown which wobbles a bit. This one is a bit heavier but the comfort of a padded band on your forehead and the better crown is worth it. Also, the plastic crown ( which you have to assemble by yourself) is not well made. The adjustment pegs (which you use to adjust the size of headband-like top of the crown and the diameter of the sweat band like part that fits horizontally around your head ) are mis-shaped and don’t fit well in the holes. You have to work at it. Also, because it ships flat the plastic crown is a bit distorted. I placed a ball in the crown for a few days and it was fine. Also, the two pieces on the top that slide for sizing get caught on your hair. Wear a surgical cap if you choose the lighter smaller one. I bought a really good one on amazon that has a built in sweat band

Won’t hold position after 2 yrs light use
I’ve been using this very occasionally for ~2 years, and now the adjustments will no longer hold. The tension on the headband won’t hold (leading to the entire unit sliding down my forehead), and the tension on the face shield will not hold either, causing it to drop lower than desired. This results in the shield being closer to my mouth and fogging up.It was great to use at first.

I have worn protective eyewear for decades, but decided to up my game and order a full face shield. Better late than never. I spent way more than I had initially intended, but chose the Sellstrom Face Shield after reading the reviews quite thoroughly. It is shocking how many bad reviews were posted without a response from Sellstrom. The package arrived within 24 hours. That’s unbelievable. No manual, no brochure. Everyone has freaked out about the blue shield screen. I removed the film with some trepidation. What if it’s there for a reason? Yes, a small one-page How To Get Started would have been nice. It felt great once I easily figured out the adjustment settings. What a relief to engage some lawn trimming without fear of a facial injury! I will keep the shield in the shipping box when not in use. I have an old pillow case I will use to keep the shield as scratch free as I can when in storage. I highly vouch for this product.

I feel well protected the visibility is very clear there are screws on the side and at the back that enables you to adjust to the size of your head.Even if something splashes during any procedure nothing will go on my face It’s a little bit expensive compared to other face shield in the market but it’s worth. it’s also different because of the extra part at the bottom. it gives me a sense of security when i put it on during a procedure especially when dealing with covid-19 positive patients. In addition, the delivery was very fast i was very surprised.Note: Try to wear it when you are not going into Covid room first and play with the screws so that you will know how it works because if you don’t tighten the screws on the side and the back it may fall off and by so doing you may contaminate yourself. Qulaity is fair enough for the dollar value, and seems to protect face, the downsize is “onesize fits all “and if you are not a big person you constantly hit yoru chest everytime you moved your head forward or look downi nfront of you. It would be nice if smaller sizes were available !
