This stuff is just perfect. Rest at easy knowing it’s good ingredients going into you hair, but also holds great and has natural look. Amazing. The hold is exactly what the description tells you. The low sheen is great too. I wanted something more natural so my scalp wouldn’t be irritated and this has improved already. But I would buy the product for the smell alone. I’m hoping Highlands comes out with this as a cologne! highly recommended.

First Impression is “Fine”
One Week Review: I’ve been using Aveda clay for years. I tried this for the same reason everyone probably is–the relentless ads making it seem like the product is well made by a small business and who does not want to support a small business making a product without a bunch of chemicals. I have thin straight hair for reference. The scent is better than Aveda (and that is saying a lot because Aveda is mostly about the smell). The product is much harder to apply that Aveda. Aveda is creamy but Highland Glacial pomade It is very stiff and initially gritty. I have had to throw out some beard products because they are too stiff to use. Highland requires some muscle to get out of the container, but a finger will work and I didn’t have to get a tool out of the toolbox to get it out. You have to warm it up on your fingers for a bit to get it to go on your hair. It is sticky on application, so I have to use a light, smooth touch or I will pull my hair all over the place and look crazy. I can’t just run my fingers through my hair with a handful of product and then style it like in the commercials. You have to rub any residue off of your hands with a towel (or your jeans) because the wax won’t just wash off with soap and water. It holds fine, but I may not be using enough product. Because of the stiff texture, I started with a very small amount and have been gradually using more. The Wax in the Highland product works better in the rain that the Aveda. The Aveda just dissolves in the lightest mist and disappears when my hair dries. Then my hair looks like Barney Fife after making out with his girlfriend on the couch. After some slight rain, my hair remained the same using Highland. At this point, I’m using it every day, I’m not sending it back or tossing it, but i’m not sure I will stick with it after the initial tin is used up.

I bought this pomade because other pomade’s give me dandruff, and I also wanted to be a lot more conscious of the Chemicals I put it on my body.I wish I could give half star ratings. I think 3 stars is too little and 4 stars is too much. Overall, I like the product and its effect on my scalp health. But for the price, I think there should be more pomade in it as I need to use more in order to get a better hold. It’s also has 1/3 less pomade than products of equal priceI appreciate the natural scent of pine and sandalwood that was used instead of artificial scents. The smell is like an earthy, pine-ish smell. Probably more like sage.I have no issues with the product lasting all day as long as I’ve added enough to begin with. Also, the times I fallen asleep without washing it out I wake up and my hair feels great and looks even better when I comb it again.Shipping was the biggest issue. It took a very long time between ordering and receiving. I almost canceled the order.Good quality ingredients, medium but long lasting hold, very long shipping time and smaller package.

Favorite Pomade
Bought this product after seeing it on Instagram a ton since I was in the market for trying out a new hair product. It can always be hit or miss with Insta products, but this was a 100% hit! My hair looks great, and feels great using this product. It smells great when you are applying it. I usually go every other day with washing my hair, and just vigorously rinse my hair with water, and add a bit less product. Hair looks thicker, and I’m able to adjust it throughout the day if needed. 100% will be buying this product again!
