As a content creator, I’m always looking for gear that delivers professional results without adding bulk, and this mic delivers on all fronts!Pros:• Crystal-Clear Audio: The sound quality is exceptional, capturing voices with clarity and richness. Lightweight, great quality, and a fair value.
This is a hard review to do because of what it is. Microphones are not “one size fits all”. I’ve tried numerous other wireless microphone systems and this one best meets my needs. The price is more than I would like, but then again, the value is there.For many people, the single mic mini by itself will do everything needed. These can pair via bluetooth, so pairing to your phone is simple and straightforward. However, I’m reviewing the kit, not a single microphone. I just wanted to explain that the less expensive “package options” exist.The main feature that drove me to this set is the ability to raise or lower the mic volume on the receiver by 6 or 12 decibels in either direction. It has a built-in anti-clipping feature as well. The volume adjustment is the ONLY adjustment you can make via the physical receiver. The transmitters simply have power and pairing buttons. To make other adjustments, you need the DJI MIMO app. This is a difference between the DJI Mic 2 system, where the controls are on the receiver itself.The DJI Mic 2 has more features, such as recording audio to the actual transmitter itself. It’s a “nice to have” feature, but I can’t think of a time when it was important unless you simply wanted a stand-alone audio recorder (which you can buy far less expensively). The Mic 2 is also considerably larger and heavier than the mic mini. The Mic mini is also CONSIDERABLY less expensive than the Mic 2, and this review is on the mic mini anyway.This kit comes with two transmitters (mics), one receiver (with USB-C connectivity), 4 windscreens (two the same color as the mic and two grey ones), a USB charging cable, a 3.5mm camera cable, a charging case, and a nice fabric carrying case. One of the best parts about this set is that the charging case can hold not only the receivers and transmitter, but also 2 of the windscreens (while attached to the microphones), and the 3.5mm cable if you need that. This makes the fabric carrying case a bit obsolete unless you want the slight padding protection that it offers.The windscreens clip on and off of the microphones fairly easily, but will not inadvertently fall off. The sound quality of the microphones are great for my purposes. With the windscreens attached, the buttons and lights are visible. The microphones attach using either a built-in clip or a magnet. The clip is not removable.To charge everything, you simply charge the case. The case can recharge the microphones something like 3.6 times, so when it’s time to do a recording, grab the charging case and contents and never worry about whether the components inside are charged.Battery life is very good. Range is phenomenal, if not complete overkill. The microphones are extremely lightweight. I’ve taken my shirt off hours after recording a video only to realize the mic is still attached. I literally forget it’s even there.You CAN get much cheaper wireless microphones, but I’ve tried SEVERAL and wish I’d used the “buy once, cry once” philosophy.
