What the heck is “Korean Beauty”??
Let me start off by saying that I’m no beauty expert. I didn’t even decide that it was fun to wear dresses until I was in my thirties. I went through a phase where I was in a rock band and wore costumes and sparkly makeup for a while, but then I settled down and popped out a kid who is now just over a year old. The most grooming I do these days is throwing my hair in a ponytail. I have been blessed with fairly normal non-reactive skin so I never really thought about my skin much. My skin care “routine” consisted of washing my face with bar soap in the shower, and then slathering it in a moisturizer with SPF in it, and I never even considered that there was anything else to be done. Not only am I not a beauty person, I also am not a book reviewer. As presidential candidates love to claim, I’m an “outsider”. I think this background kind of makes me an awesome reviewer for a book like this.I got this book last Friday from a friend and finished it the same weekend (which is amazingly fast for me… did I mention I have a baby?). It really opened my eyes to a whole new world. As the book tells you, you do not have to buy a bunch of high-priced Korean products to create a “Korean-style” skin care routine. I decided to start my routine by purchasing some American drugstore brands. I used the book to determine what kind of skin I have (normal, but SOOOO DEHYDRATED) and to figure out what types of ingredients to look for. The books beautifully lists out what the ingredients that you find in skincare actually do for you… I was able to pop into Walgreens and find 4 products, totaling less than $30, that have the humectants I need to start a routine, and it has already made such an amazing difference. My face is so smooth and soft, my nose pores look noticeably smaller, and it has only been three days since I started. My skin feels just so JUICY!! I’m going to look into some of the Korean products from the book and from the blogs that the book turned me on to (the Whamisa organic fermented flower toner stuff sounds so delicious) when my current supplies start running low.I am just in awe that I’ve been overlooking my largest organ for this long, and I’m ready for the future of age-defying, moisturizing, CARING for my skin in a natural way. Also, I never expected a beauty book to be funny, but there are lines in it that made me laugh out loud. The authors are knowledgeable and clever, the chapters are organized perfectly, the photos are gorgeous, the design is flawless… I can’t think of anything negative to say about it. Whether you’re a person engaged in a longstanding love affair with K-beauty, or if you’re a K-noob like me, this book is going to be right up your alley!

Purchase this book if you want the best skin of your life!
(This is Phillip’s wife–I purchased this book under his prime account.)First of all, I don’t care if you’re new to Korean Beauty or a seasoned pro, this meticulously researched book is packed with knowledge. If it’s not learning about the culture that created k-beauty, it’s the informative and scientifically proven results of each ingredient discussed in an engaging way that keeps you turning the pages. The pictures are gorgeous, the models are stunning and you really get a sense of what a k-beauty regime can do for your face. It’s a great primer for the clueless first timer–it will help you to decide what products to try first and how to set your routine. For someone like me who has been using a successful routine for a couple of years, it really gives me an idea of products I might want to try to tweak my routine.I’m 40, never had a set skincare routine until about two years ago. I still broke out regularly like I was in junior high, and the hyperpigmentation was overwhelming and my face was very red. After regularly using the products I started to experience the best skin of my life. I wish I had known about this years ago. The redness is gone from my face, and I can wear my bare skin with a flick of mascara and feel completely confident running about town. My skin actually glows now! If it weren’t for Kerry Thompson and Coco Parks education, I’d be a mess. I can’t thank them enough for setting me on this path of beautiful, natural skin!

I’m glad I bought this, and definitely found it helpful in explaining a lot of the steps and ingredients to a Korean beauty and skincare routine. I like the examples of skincare routines from different people that they’ve included, although it can be a little tedious flipping through them to try to find one that is relevant to you and your specific skincare concerns. I also wish they had included more photos of the people whose skincare routines are explained — not to be harsh, but if I’m going to model a skincare routine after someone, I would like to know that their skin looks good! Still very happy with the purchase and refer to it semi-regularly.

So good that I’m buying another one for my desk
Before I confuse everyone, this is Tracy Teel (Finesse Writing and Editing), not Roy. I purchased this incredible book using my husband’s account (and I want the review to show that this was, indeed, an Amazon Verified Purchase). Now … on to the good stuff. While a newbie when it comes to K-beauty, I’ve been a skincare devotee since I was 20. Now, as 50 comes knocking at my door, I continue to have great skin and that’s due to my ongoing commitment to all things beauty. Since I write for a variety of beauty industry clients, I’ve been learning about Korean skincare for about a year … but I still felt a little uneducated. Then, I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow: Kerry and Coco’s book. Ahhhh. Do you hear the angels? This compilation is the textbook you need with the personality that keeps you coming back for more.As an editor, I know that content development and style are key to keeping readers engaged. These ladies are pros! I read the first 72 pages in one sitting, and the next 82 the following morning. Since finishing it, I’ve opened it at least once every day to either refresh my memory or to look something up. Yes, it’s that good. I’m placing an order for a second copy now because I want one by my bedside and another on my desk. I can’t tell you how useful this book is. You simply must buy a copy for yourself. And by “buy,” I mean “get the hardback.”Aside from its engaging information, detailed research, and incredibly friendly style, it’s utterly gorgeous … and it lays flat when opened! I’m a book lover, and that quality alone pleases me endlessly. This is simply a must-have, must-read, must-share compilation of joy. Thank you, ladies. I can tell that this was a labor of love. Bravo!

We relocated to South Korea with my husband’s work. Whilst there I learnt fast how popular Korean skin care. I searched the web and found this cutting edge book what was my bible whilst living there. So much information to the perfection to Korean skin and so much knowledge many things within the book that I learnt about. For the physical book itself, it’s such high quality and perfect for reading over and over as I did. It covers how to determine and identify your skin type and assess different skin concerns such as acne, dullness, dehydration a lot of things westerns don’t take into account. The book is an awesome book that I highly recommend for anyone already into K-beauty or wanting to explore more

Davvero interessante!
