Very Functional Jump Starter and Inflator at a Reasonable Price
I had a recent experience where I was helping someone out trying to jump start their car with jumper cables attached to my car’s battery. Their battery was completely discharged so the jump start didn’t work. They had to call for emergency service and the guy that came had a device similar to this one. He educated me that these rechargeable battery chargers are much more reliable for deeply discharged batteries, and will often work when jumper cables won’t. So I found this jump starter and decided to give it a try.My first opportunity to use it was on my son’s car. He had left the door open and the lights discharged the battery. I connected the jump starter to his car and it fired right up. I had charged the unit to a full charge but hadn’t used it for almost 2 months. When I used it on my son’s car, the unit’s battery was still showing 100% charged so it appears to hold a charge well.The unit comes with a nice hard case (see pictures) that holds all of the cables, the air hose, the adapters, and instructions which is nice. There are also some nice design features. For example, the positive and negative leads are different lengths (see picture) which helps prevent the two leads from touching and sparking if you’ve got one lead attached to a battery. It also has a light and ports to charge your phone and other devices via its USB-A port.I also tested the air pump. I deflated one of my 22 inch tires on my SUV down to 29PSI and then refilled it with the air pump on this unit to get it back to the manufacturer’s recommendation of 40PSI. You are able to set the desired PSI and when that value is reached the unit shuts off automatically which is nice. That process took 4 minutes and 54 seconds which is average at best. But, the primary purpose of this unit is to provide jump starts, the inflator can be considered a bonus. I have a separate inflator that runs off my car’s battery that cost more than this unit, and it is only an inflator. But it’s primary purpose is to refill tires and therefore it is much faster. After refilling my tire this unit was completely cool and showed no signs of overheating.The only minor negatives of this unit are: 1) refilling my tire reduced the remaining battery life from 4 bars to 3 bars so if you use it to refill a tire you need to remember to recharge it so its ready when you need it for a jump start; 2) There are a number of buttons and clicks required to get to the functionality that you need for the air pump, so while its not overwhelming, you will need to keep the instruction manual with the unit for reference; and 3) as with many imported products, the instruction manual is written in slightly broken English, but I’ve seen worse and it is understandable.So all in, this is a great unit for what it costs and it provides peace of mind for those situations where you have a dead battery or low tires. Recommend the unit.
