Perfect for rotisserie cooking
I chose this product for a few reasons over the numerous of similar products on the market. I needed wireless thermometers for the rotisserie on my smoker. Many of temp probes on the market require the use of a phone app. After all the research I’ve done, I concluded I didn’t want to use a phone app for numerous reasons. The TempSpike checked all the boxes for me. Pre-programmed meat temperatures, accurate temperature readings, two probes, no Bluetooth/ WiFi needed, easy to read and operate interface, rechargeable lithium battery, strong signal and no app. I tested the accuracy with my wired ThermPro that I’ve had for years, as the photos show accurate within a couple of degrees, which is good enough for my needs. The wireless probes update the display module every 30-60 seconds it seems, the wired probes are instant. I’ve used the wireless unit for 3 hours uninterrupted, no dropped signal no failures. I’ve walked about 300 ft away and the signal held strong. I walked inside the house, second floor no dropped signal. I cooked my Thanksgiving turkey this year using these probes and my rotisserie and the turkey was the best I’ve ever made. Cooked perfect thanks to these probes. The probes clean up great, the white probe isn’t stained with smoke or grease, they both look brand new after two uses. Now comes the real test, how long will these last, if they last 3 years the value is ok for the price. Don’t touch them while they’re hot, from a friend!!!

Finally, a oven thermometer that works…
I’ve owned several oven thermometers. None them worked very well. This one does. Past problems usually centered around Bluetooth connections failing or some other mechanical problem.This thermometer is well-built, commercial grade. The probes are pre-programmed with the unit, so all you have to do is charge the unit with the probes and then remove and stick in the meat you are cooking. Pick the temperature you want and it instantly tells you current meat temp and air/ambient temperature. Be careful the probes are hot. The instructions are easy to follow, but pushing both arrows at the same time stops the beeping, which I find annoying. Last, this unit’s “medium rare” is slightly more done than mine, so adjust accordingly. I subtract about 5 degrees from the temp.

Works Great
This is a very good meat thermometer! I wanted one that was stand alone and not dependent on a phone app.It is very easy to use and set up for what you are cooking and having 2 probes in great when cooking multiple things at the same time. The RF connection (not Bluetooth that is used with phone apps) between the probes and the base unit was excellent! There were now connection issues with the probes inside grill wit lid shut connecting to the unit inside the house.

Finally a totally Wireless Meat Thermometer that works and well priced
I have tried several Meat Thermometers over the 10 years and was not pleased with their reliability and durability. They were all wired thermometers and they have some great features like a smartphone app that indicated the meat’s internal temperature and alarm when the meat reached the proper temperature. However, they were tempermental – you could not allow the wires to touch anything in the BBQ grill or Oven, not get the ambient temperature over 300-400 F degrees, plus you could clean/wash the wires with any water. There were not fun to store and keep in good working condition. However, at the time they were worth the hassle. Finally I found the TempSpike XR totally Wireless Meat Thermometer that solved all these problems. So far, it has been very reliable, durable and has temperature controls with alarms to both internal and ambient temperatures. It has Two Probes, each of which can be set for separate temperatures which can be very useful for cooking meats with different thickness or two different meats be cooked at the same time. The base unit is very compact, portable with a Kick stand when need and a back lite display to see in the dark. I love that it has a strong magnetic on the back so you can attach it to the refrigerator, which is very handy. The one complaint I have is the directions could be much better on how to program the temperatures. Although, the base unit comes with several pre-programmed meat temperatures, since I live at high altitudes those temperatures do not cook accurately for me. To address this the TempSpike XR offers a separate Program feature but it isn’t very clear how to use this. So I called their Customer Support team and was able to figure it our and now I am very happy with how that feature works. I suggested they update their YouTube with better and easy to understand instructions and they agreed and will be updating that video instruction YouTube.. I am also very impressed they actually have a phone number and people who answer that are well trained and very helpful – most companies today only provide on-line FAQ’a or self help, so I was delighted to know they invest in live customer care professionals to answer questions. Surprisingly, the TempSpike XR is very well priced and affordable – it is no more expensive the wired meat thermometers I didn’t care to use. I highly recommend the TempSpike XR to anyone who cares about cooking their meats to the proper temperature they want – for me I can now not have to guess or watch over closely how to cook a RibEye steak to my liking and impress my guests with how well it was grilled.

Accurate and handy temp probe
We’ve had this for a couple of months now and have only had to charge it once. The probe batteries last a long time as well. We use this all the time and the temp is accurate compared to other thermometers we have.Have the dual probes with ambient temp is very handy when smoking meats. I can monitor two different meats and keep an eye on my grate temp. The white probe will discolor is the smoker, but cleans off easily.The range is pretty good too.Highly recommend this.

Unfortunately, the unit I received is not accurate, the probes sitting in the same cup had a variance of 8°.Definitely not accurate at reading temps, after using 2 preset failures, I used the Custom Programming setting and had it set at 110°, it wasn’t even close to medium rare…. 15° lower than the preset Rare setting…. The range is fine, sadly the probes are not.

Hubby’s mighty impressed with his new toy. Had originally bought him a meatstick years ago, but was unfortunately lost recently during a move. So decided to get a new one for Xmas. Gave it to him a bit early so we could use it for dinner. Without question it is far superior to the meatstick.Highly reccomend for the human who loves to cook a good meat.
