Very down to earth, easy to understand
This book has been amazing! It’s in normal, everyday language that is easy to understand. Yeah, you might have to look up a few medical terms, but the book is so relatable, so you don’t feel like ‘you’re the only one’ who feels this way. Found out there are other books that she has written and going to purchase those next. Definitely worth the price I paid.

BUY THIS BOOK
If you are looking at this review it means you are thinking about buying this book. Buy it. This book helped me more than you can even begin to imagine. Please buy it. I have recommended it to everyone I talk to about mental health. If you think you will benefit from this I assure you you will. The profanity is a little excessive but it’s fine too.

Explained perfectly!
This writer basically lived inside my mind and made every unexplained mood swing and/trauma make sense. Going to implement a lot of these thoughts and see if it makes a difference. Definitely a must read

Life changer for me!
I absolutely loved this book! I work in mental health, and recommend it all of the time. I found myself in a low point in life and knew that I had to do something. It took me shuffling it around “for another day” for months, and then a plant fell and the pot shattered, and it knocked this book down. I look at the mess on the floor and through the soil I see the title staring at me. If that wasn’t my sign that it was time, I don’t know what would have been ! I read this book slowly, took notes. Took my time to really process each section. I wish that I knew there was a workbook! I essentially made my own, which was very helpful. But I would recommend buying the workbook! I loved the language used. The author is very intelligent and although she uses a lot of swearing, I felt that it made her more human and relatable. It was easy for me to understand the actual functions of the brain and to picture exactly what she was explaining. I’ve done trauma therapy in the past, but this is what worked for me. I’m FREE! Seriously. I really hope that this book works the same for others. I’m so so grateful.

How to book
Great book with lots of humor. The author drops the F bomb a lot so you have to be OK with that. There is very good advice in this book. It’s not a very thick book so it’s not overwhelming to read.

I’m Torn. Pros: This book covers a very necessary, serious, and stigmatized area of mental health: trauma. It does a good job describing accurately & scientifically what happens to the brain on trauma, the effects and how to deal. More should be explored & written about this subject.Cons: I have issues with the way it’s written. First, the Title Doesn’t Really Tell You It’s About Trauma. So people looking for that won’t find it and people who think this book is about something else will be out a few bucks. It’s written with the view that absolutely Everyone has gone through some kind of trauma & could benefit from this book. I won’t argue that, I can’t know. The Language is not necessary. There isn’t a sentence not peppered with f-bombs and every other curse word. I have NO problem with cursing but this is overkill! It’s obvious the book is geared towards young people but if trauma effects all ages why write it like that? It’s comically full of urban lingo which almost discredits the intelligent and noble writer. Because it’s got a lot of valuable info., I read it, but it’s hard. I think even a teenager would roll their eyes at the writer trying to relate to them and sound cool.By the time a lot of people get around to doing some self help reading they’re pushing 30 & up. It would be great if it were scrapped & re-written for everyone. It also says, “I dont think young people are very smart & won’t be interested in reading something unless it sounds ‘woke.” That’s not what I’d want to hear if I were the target audience. In fact there’s nothing worse than an adult trying to talk like your generation when they’re not.The other thing it says is, if you’re older than the target audience, this book won’t be useful to you, which is also untrue. So, kudos to the writer for delving into a serious much needed topic but please get an Editor.

I was very disappointed myself as i was really excited to read this book cos it had such good comments and it seemed more focused on young people. As english is not my mother language nor i was born in the states, the expressions and slangs are hard to understand therefore the book is hard to read. Didnt really get anything from it. Plus, its really bad publishing. The spaces between words and space like. I feel scammed. Such a waste of money. Its even more expensive than other greater books similar to this one. And yeah, too much unnecessary swearing.
