Really an amazing Thermometer for my tropical tank. Easy to use: This little unit gives you the ability to set water temperature alerts: both high and low and within seconds gave an accurate temperature reading to the point. My old thermometer was reading 79. The “Capetsma” varied between 79.3 and 79.5. Large digital reading in black on a clear transparent backing that doesn’t compete with your tank: Facts: no guessing. The battery came damaged: the replacement battery was about the same cost of the thermometer: amazon wasn’t able to send out a replacement battery, so it was suggested I return it. I will order it again and highly recommend.

Like many other people here, this was an impulse buy for me. I had one of those standard stick-on thermometers and I could NEVER read it when the light was dim. It was really hard to see exactly what the temperature was, and that’s important for me to know. I want to make sure the fish are doing well.So one evening after peering fruitlessly at my stick-on thermometer trying to figure out what in the world the temperature was, I said THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I went onto Amazon and voila, I found this one. I immediately ordered it.I AM SO HAPPY.Installing this is a breeze. I stuck it onto a corner where it’s barely troublesome in terms of seeing the fish. But when I glance over at the tank, I can see in large letters exactly what the temperature is down to a tenth of a degree. There is no question. I also have alerts so if something goes wildly wrong with my heater I know that it happened. That adds peace of mind.I will never, ever, use one of those awful color-range stick-on thermometers again. This is absolutely perfect.In my picture there is “stuff” behind my thermometer but I did that on purpose. If you want to of course you can put yours somewhere that nothing at all is behind yours for even better visibility. I chose to put mine down in a corner. It is still FAR more visible than that other one was.Highly, highly recommended. And it comes with a spare battery! Who even does that any more!!

Can be difficult to read.
Good quality, accuracy seems acceptable. Depending upon lighting, can be difficult to read, and worse in darkness. Instructions are reasonably clear, and setting high and low perameters is easy.

Best outer temp gauges I’ve found so far! I mostly love the look of them and being able to see through it is a big plus as well. They came with litum batteries so they should hold for a long while for sure. One failed pretty early but after replacing the battery it’s been up and running since, the one still has the original battery and it’s been about a year now so it lasts a very long time haha. Overall they super simple to use and add a very nice look. Only issue I’ve found is that if you use a magnetic glass cleaner you can’t clean behind the thermometer. I just break out the long razor blade glass cleaner and problem solved! Thanks!

Kept switching to C on it’s own and lasted only a few months before dying.
This has a very strong sticky pad to stick it to the side of your aquarium. Unfortunately, that is where the battery is located. So in order to change the battery, you need to PRY (literally with all of your strength) the thermometer off of your aquarium, change the battery, and then figure out how to remount it on your own since you just destroyed the sticky pad.During set up I had set it for F (default is C). However, everytime I walked past the aquarium and looked at the temperature, it had switched itself back to C. Yes, I kept resetting it to F. Finally, a few months after owning it and having to deal with this major inconvenience, it died. That’s when I figured all of the times I walked by and looked at it, must have worn out the battery. This is one of those big flat batteries that you don’t normally keep on hand. So I ordered some, PRIED off the thermometer, worked for about 30 minutes scraping off the left over sticky pad off of the glass, changed the battery, and guess what! Nothing! I don’t know if I got a fluke bad one but there is no way in heck I am going to be getting another one. This was a very horrible, exhausting, and frustrating experience.

Easy to read at a glance
I have had a number of thermometers for my aquarium, both in the water and on the glass. This is by far my favorite as I can easily read what the temperature of the water is at a glance and based upon the other thermometers in use is accurate within one degree. I kind of wish the name was on a black background to match the rest of the product instead of a red one, which distracts a little and wish it were a little flatter as I have it placed on the front bottom right corner, but it is still a nice product and definitely serves its purpose.

Unit is more than 1 full degree off (low)
Considering it touts itself as being accurate and offers the features of hi/lo “alarms”, the unit is disappointingly inaccurate. The “alarm” is also nothing more than the main temp value blinking…no sound is made. Which is functionally useless. If you’re looking at the unit (the only way in which you’d be aware of a hi/lo alert) you’d already know that the temp was an issue from the master value being shown.So, all in all disappointing, because it is a fairly nice presentation.

Not for rimless tanks!
I have a 6mm thick rimless tank I installed this onto, but the reading is 4 degrees off at all times, leading it to constantly flash that the temperature is too low. I’m sure it would work for a thin acrylic or normal glass tank, but not for rimless tanks. Unless there is a way to calibrate/manually set the current temperature to be accurate as a base line, this product is unusable in my situation.
